Bought myself a 60 years old FSU "Leica" ;) Namely a Zorki 3 with Jupiter-8 50mm F/2 lens. Apparently it has a few issues, the slow shutter mechanism is jamming (1-1/25 sec), and the lens has some dust inside. I will see if I can clean it and fix it eventually, there are very good books written on servicing those cameras (in russian at least). Until then I plan to shoot a film in "normal" shutter modes.

Although this lens is supposed to be among the sharpest that came out of Soviet factories, I really want a collapsable Elmar-insipired Industar-22 eventually. It just looks so right on that body, and of course I like the compactness of the package.
Guess what??

So damn awesome :D

Clocked 290k on my D4 in about 2.5 years, time to renew shutter and retire it to second body status.

But that zoom is quite impressive, found these two gifs showcasing it's zoom capabilities:
Here we go for an example, a look over the Rhine river at Vaduz Castle in Liechtenstein.
Very hot day, camera handheld, the distance between me and the castle was 4 km according to Google Earth.

Lens at 0x zoom, the castle is in the centre of the picture:

Zoom at about 40x:

Zoom at about 70x to take a full frame pic of the castle:

Zoom on full optical = 83x

For sure, the last pics are coming over as quite soft, but that's not the camera, that's just the heat shimmer, as it was a 30?C day.
I haven't found any real use for that zoom power so far, but it's only a "I-want-that" gadget/toy anyway. :)

Was the D4 the one that broke?
Yea, there was a minor "explosion" inside the bay, and my sensor was immediately incredibly dirty and also locked down to the smallest aperture. In the following couple of images you can see the broken piece at the bottom.

Back to using my feet, bicycle and the bus.

I'm actually very impressed. And surprised

I added Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM image samples. These were taken at a party with a 580EX II attached.

This was where I encountered an ?Err 20? when I shot stills after taking 3 to 6 minute videos. Hopefully this can be solved with a simple firmware update.

Other image samples include Canon EF 85mm f/1.2L II USM and Canon EF 800mm f/5.6L IS USM.

All of the images shared are not how Canon marketed the camera to be used as. ;)

Got my hands on some macro bellows. Soviet made, from 1985 :)

The lens is 50mm Rodenstock, it's a 50mm enlarger lens, so doesn't have focusing of it's own.

Here's my screen, pixel pitch is 0.27mm, so one subpixel is less than 100 micrometers wide. Pretty cool imo :)

(10mb jpg!)

Ultimately, the reason I got it, is to build sort of a slide duplicator to digitize my negatives better.

Found a very nice Konica Hexar in a second hand camera fair today:

Nice, post results if you find a way to scan it :)
After developing about a dosen of b/w rolls, I'm feeling brave enough to try color now. Actually have the same Superia 400 in my Canon QL17 now, with the intention of getting the Tetenal C41 kit. My main concern is the lifetime of mixed chemicals, I'd have to shoot a lot of color film in a short time to make it economically sensible. It's about 50eur for 8 rolls and about 2 months of shelf life, but people have pushed it to 25 rolls and up to 2 years. Which is still a whole lot more than I am shioting :(

There are many places to develop / scan film in HK, and the selection of films to buy is amazing too!

I'll definitely post some shots when I get the results, I'm already halfway through it so it shouldn't take long :-D

Nothing too fancy, and picture taken with my potato phone camera but:

Nikon D7200 with 18-140mm kit lens

Also have the 50mm f/1.8D (the old and cheaper non-AF-S one), which has of course become my main lens for my usual business:

I finally managed to replace my old Nikon D3100 with a D610 (got a new one for 999 euros) ! \o/

Now I am happy apart from the fact that I really need a 50mm lens with AF (I have an old Nikon series E 50mm f/1.8).
Otherwise I am pretty happy with the combination of a Nikon 28mm f/1.8G and a Tamron 70-300mm f/4-5.6 SP Di VC USD.
