bought a Tamron AF28-300MM F/3.5-6.3 XR Di to replace the 55-200mm

:D :D

so now i've got 18-300mm covered :D :D

will probably look to buy a 85mm F/1.8D

sometime in the future. the 12-24mm super-wide...
and once funds are secured, the 28-300mm will be replaced with a 80-200mm (one of the best Nikon telephoto zooms ever...aside from the 70-200mm VR)

but for now, i'm very happy with the 3 lens setup i have.

just joined the dslr gang. ;)

olympus e-500, with zuiko 14-45 and 50-150 (altogether covering about 30-300 in 35mm equivalent).

Any specs on the Olympus ?

I've sice added a 430Ex Speedlite and a Sigma 24-70 to my collection. Next in inline is the 50 f1.8, 70-200 L 2.8 and an external three point car mount :)

specs? uh, what exactly do you want to know? :D

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/com...ras=canon_eos350d,nikon_d50,oly_e500&show=all

basically an entry level dslr, with some more features than the 350d or d50 like for example the innovative dust-filter, very solid body and lenses, 4/3 sized images and higher quality kit lenses than the competition...
drawbacks are the noise at high iso values and the slightly smaller viewfinder.

its only ~700? for the kit with both lenses though and up to canon and nikon in everything else but the noise at high iso levels.
as i am usually not using high iso values, the decision for the e-500 was clear...

and extensive review can be found here:

Thought I might as well do mine as I've got all my new toys (for now!)

Nikon D70s
Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 VR DX
Nikkor 60mm f/2.8 Micro
Sandisk Extreme III 2GB CF
Kingston 1 GB CF
Jessops 72mm UV
Manfrotto 055CLB Stand
Manfrotto 141 3-Way head.
LowePro Case

Thats all that I can think of.

I'm thinking of buying:

Canon EOS Digital Rebel xt(350D)
canon EF 50mm f/1.8
Canon EF 28-105mm f/3.5-4.5 II USM

What do you guys think? I wont get the rebel xt kit cause i hear the lens is a crap shoot.

I want the same thing, I have the money, but I can't spend it. :(

I also have the money, but it's going toward my next four years as a poor medical student.

Also i want a laptop, and i need to save for the europe trip i'm taking in a month!

Yep, I gotta save it for car insurance, gas, and other expenses.

Sorry, but that's all I can contribute at the moment

But after seeing all the magnificient photos in the lens flair section I'm thinking about upgrading in autumn (well, shouldn't be too difficult on that level)

Yup - like you guys, really want to upgrade but can't afford it at the moment. Well, I have the money (like you) but the car needs new insurance and tax next month, and guess what? It comes out the same as an EOS350D. Doh! Damned priorities.

Anyway, I'm currently using a not brilliant point and shoot compact, an Olympus mju410 (stylus 410 for the Americans). This thing:

mju410.jpg

It's nothing great at all - the photos it gives are really average at best. But it's weatherproof, which is great given it's been trodden on, dropped in a bog, taken to the desert, then taken snowboarding two weeks later where it was fallen on a few times (hurt me more than the camera) and out on the bike in the pouring rain getting covered in mud. It's a robust camera, and I love it for that! :)
But it's definately time to upgrade to something that gives better photos, so I'm waiting for some money so I can start using my old EOS lenses again from my film EOS camera... :)

Possibly a bizarre question, but that bag... Who's the manufacturer and how pricey is it? And obviously how good is it? Is it actually your camera bag?
It's just that I've been looking for a bag like that for a while - a bag that you can carry you camera in easily and reasonably safely while not looking like a traditional camera bag (i.e. an obvious target when you're walking around London). I'm loving my normal shoulder satchel thingy at the moment for laptop or folders but would love a good camera version even more - but have been unable to find it. So, details please?! :D

Edit: In case you're wondering, my camera doesn't look much like that anymore... :) It's managed to pick up a few scratches and the sliding door ain't as smooth as it once was...
