I think out of the current crop of suggested (or guessed) hosts I would like to see Leno, Allen and Dempsey... Seinfeld can blow me...

The reasonably priced car can be a Ford Mustang, hell any big V8 thing is reasonably priced (Compared to what we have to pay in Europe).

Another point. For the mods. Do you think we should move/give the Aus. TG a slot in "The Shows" segment. I do.
He could be called "the Gurney" I think that would work pretty well and it recalls a famous American driver (he actually won the 24 hours of lemans, then an F1 race, in a car designed and built by himself, the next weekend)

And the Aussie one won't be? Oddly enough, if the Aussie one is half decent, I can see it being sold to a few English speaking countries (including possibly the USA, although it would need subtitles for the US market images/smilies/tongue.gif) ... but the Aussie version would be most likely to end up on specialist cable/satellite channels such as Men & Motors or Discovery Real Time, whereas I can see the US version being picked up by major networks. Possibly something the Brits will get to enjoy on ITV. images/smilies/lol.gif

they could just use the "same" stig. with the building up of the stig's legend, the ability to travel around the world instantly can just be credited to his neverending powers. as others have mentioned, there may be more than one driver who poses as the stig, so there shouldn't be scheduling issues with the trans-atlantic filming schedule.

in some way, i'd still like something unique to top gear usa though, so i would be in favor of american stig. like i said before, i don't want top gear usa or top gear down under to be carbon copies of top gear uk. there wouldn't be a point to either of the new shows if that were the case.

knowing american culture, and having seen bastardization of american producers adapting foreign shows for our audiences, i fully expect top gear usa to be over the top. hopefully, i'm wrong. i don't want top gear usa to be laden with sexuality, like having some needless bimbos holding up scoreboards (ie. best motoring). i don't want an overabundance of stunts and explosions. i want top gear usa to be serious about automotive reviews and funny at the same time.

there is one i think top gear usa producers must take from top gear uk, and that's the attitude to do as they wish. i don't want our producers to cower at the feet of the various party-pooping lobbies and organizations. don't listen to eco-nuts, animal rights activists, conservationists, or anyone else whjo would care to detriment the automobile.

pastrana has turned into a formidable driver in rallying, so i wouldn't be disappointed with him. only doubt i would have about him is a lack of experience with motorsports other than rally and moto-x. will he be able to get the best out of the production cars to be reviewed on the show, and in a time attack style on tarmac?

probst is an even better candidate. he has an extensive and impressive history in touring, gt, and endurance racing.

if top gear usa follows the top gear uk's mold, then we would be oblivious as to the stig's identity. therefore, i wouldn't matter much he the driver is as long as they can draw the best out of the cars they drive.

Everyone who has said Jason Priestly:

Can you people explain to me how he would be more entertaining than a pet rock for a host? He has ZERO personality, is extremely boring (he managed to make the show Rides very dull), and while he is apparently some kind of car guy, doesn't know his ass from a hole in the ground when it comes to cars.

Pastrana Actually sounds like a decent idea, he's actually got some character, and enjoys being in front of the camera.

Pastrana is under contract with Subaru for the next three years in his bid to compete in the WRC. No room for a regular TV show.

NO. I will fucking murder Patrick Fucking Dempsey if he goes anywhere near this. I'm tired of seeing his fucking smug bastard mug on every magazine cover, calendar, sorority girl's poster, TV promo, fruit snack box, and bath towel. If I have to see him anywhere around cars (yes, apparently he races Miatas in SCCA, presumably why his asshole name got turned up here) I will end up on the news after wasting a horde of top NBC executives with a machete and a box of hand grenades.

Part of what is nice about Top Gear is the hosts seem like they are genuine friends outside the show, and hang out together off camera at times. I dont see that in Leno/Seinfeld.
Have you seen Seinfeld on Leno's show? They're good pals.

Maybe you don't "get" his humour, but I find it hilarious. Probably because your form of humour is more sophisticated that Jerry's, which tends to be pretty silly most of the time.

no, he doesn't. he races a Ford Racing FR500C in the Koni Challenge and was in i believe 32nd overall at the Rolex 24 at Daytona. both being Grand Am and not SCCA.

just to give you a bit of insight on how damn good that is.....

over 100 competitors were in this year's running. so just think about it. 32nd out of over 100 competitors.
