I agree 100%. Discovery and TLC ain't what they used to be. The days of Robotica and Junkyard Wars are over. Now we're stuck with a dying American Chopper and a bunch of shows about 2- ton women and midgets.

That's not the set...

The set was almost IDENTICAL to the UK version. My colleagues and I were actually very very impressed with the design and lay out. It was the first thing that made us change our mind about the possibly of the pilot flopping. WHICH IT DIDN'T!! It was amazing.

Such a shame it won't be aired.

I don't think the set above was from the shoot you saw. That was apparently from another pilot shot several years previously.

We just got to accept that it's dead as a doorknob (as of right now), joining the thousands of other shelved unused pilots.

He was taking Skype calls on the podcast (I think last week) so you should be able to find it - He doesn't have a copy of the pilot and has no idea what will happen with it. I think he did say it is indeed being shopped around. He also rants about the $2Mil price tag and can't believe that it could just be scrapped.

Just thinking out loud, but for whatever reaseon, I'm sure the show got negative reviews from some POS focus group somwhere, then it got canned. Perhaps a new host, I heard Jay Leno might have some free time on his hands? I don't know about you, but I think Leno is a perfect fit for an American motoring show.

Maybe somebody already did this, but why doesn't someone send a letter or email to the BBC on behalf of Final Gear? If no one is going to pick up the show how can it hurt for them to show the pilot to the Top Gear fans?

I remember seeing a photo of the supposed TG America set and I saw an orange Gallardo Superleggera which excited me. I think that they should just sync BBC and BBCA so that people in America can watch the British Top Gear.
