As much as I'd like to see an american version of Top Gear. It probably wouldn't work without massive amounts of sponsorship. It would become a clone of Spiketv's ~~Sponserblock~~ Powerblock. Then on top of that you'd hear all sorts of groups proclaiming they endorse reckless driving and that their diving of high performance cars harms the environment. For icing on the cake the hot lap for celebrities would become a commercial on itself. Brittany Spears playing her new album as she drives around the track then saying you should buy my new album.
I think Leno knew what he was doing turning it down. It'd be the tonight show with cars.

I was chatting with Tanner Foust about TGUSA back in August. He still had hopes that the show would be picked up by another channel. So its possible it's not completely dead. Just mostly dead.
