I went to the pilot taping. There were some solid parts - but as of the taping, even though they had a track layout for Stigs laps and for SIARPC, they were still thinking of changing the track layout. That was a worrisome sign to me. Still, the adventure they guys went on was pretty good and in keeping with the antics the Brits carry on with.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it done at the old El Toro MCAS? What's left of the runways and taxiways isn't really well laid out for corners (or even a cohesive circuit) without getting straights that are too long and bias it towards silly top-speed cars so I can understand teething problems on the track layout.

Yea, the circuit was laid out at El Toro - taping was done at a studio facility in Downey, CA. I had the great pleasure of talking to Andy Wilman for a few minutes after the taping, and he indeed mentioned the long straights.

I suspect it might be similar to the ValleyWag* bounty offered for photos/videos of the Apple tablet. Lawyers were involved there too.

On the other hand, it's a pilot that they're not planning to take any further, and I don't see the harm in letting it leak. After all, it won't cost NBC any more to put it online...
