I fully understand why some shows would be on cable. It's their business model. But, in general, the model between web series and cable series are different enough that I just don't see the rationale for a web show seeing the crossover to low-budget cable as being the aspirational choice its often portrayed as.

Anyone can get a 30-minute block on Speed for a few bucks, that's just not a big deal. Even less for the smaller networks.

NBC had the budget that provided the potential for Top Gear to be as good as the UK series (potential being the key word). Money can buy a lot of writing and production talent. Cable doesn't and will therefore be a lot more reliant on the talents of the hosts to pull it off. Which, as has been discussed quite a bit here, is still not a sure thing given the current roundup. I for one am not terribly thrilled about Top Gear moving to cable. If they recast it still could still have a chance of doing good. But that's a pretty big 'if'.

Stop saying, "Everyday Driver." The logo/title and the trailer/pilot should be good enough.

I would agree with that but haven't watched enough to see if that has been fixed yet. *Also their voices are too similar to tell who is speaking.*

Other than that, your mission of being a, "US Car Review show which is more fun than Motorweek," has possibly been accomplished.

I may keep watching only if I can download the videos at decent quality -I want to watch on the 50' Sony HD.

* I see that was more of a getting used to kind of thing but still doesn't seem right. *

So what is the latest on your show? Are we going to see it on TV somewhere or just the web?

What are your plans for the future of this thing?

Appreciate the questions, SVB -

The Web side & TV side are very different animals for us. Different approaches, budgets, shoots, etc. We are well aware that we can't just throw a bunch of our web pieces together and call it a TV show.

I say that to say this: Web stuff is shooting like crazy right now. TV stuff is paused because our funding got hit like everything else in the financial world. Still planning to shoot 6 TV episodes for airing this year. When we have firm dates I'll pass that along.

Meanwhile, we continue on the web and we greatly appreciate the interest. Tell a friend... heck, tell a car obsessed enemy!

Btw - watched the full "California Driving Road / TG Homage" and enjoyed it. Saw lots of familiar places and it made me want to go driving. Well done to you guys!

We should get all the web show hosts together on a track for a shootout (or maybe just a challenge).

Anyone want to fly up to Seattle? We have an airfield we can rent.

That would be fun. images/smilies/wink.gif

LOL. I love it, Ryan... that sounds like an absurd amount of fun.

We aren't going to be in Seattle for any planned reason, but man... if this came together it would be a riot!

So, that would be Willow Springs, or Button Willow. I am going to be down in October, throwing an event on the Willow big track and I know there's an open track day the following day which we could get into for some timed runs... with some calls I could probably line up a few cars, or, at the very least ask a friend to loan us a race car for the afternoon. My video crew will be down for shooting the day prior anyhow. (thinking, thinking...)

I just have to say, I like your show, it is better than the most of the german car reviews on TV, so please keep up the work.
I am already telling my friends about it. images/smilies/wink.gif

greets
Lars

Just finished my October event (http://www.subiefest.com). Of course, I was nuts to even suggest doing anything other than sleeping on the day following.

I still have the idea in the back of my head though. images/smilies/smile.gif
