The reasons are as follows, not in any particular order.
1. It runs at 58mins and doesn’t fit normal US one hour slots of 42min plus ads.
2. The IPR’s on the music are part of the BBC’s generic agreement with the Performing Rights Soc. These only apply to the UK, I believe.
3.a) Many of the cars tested are NOT available in the US.
b) The very few US cars which are shown, are usually the European spec & price.
c) ditto b) for European & Japanese cars which are on sale in the US
4. JC’s xenophobia
5. SIARPC – only about four Americans and perhaps a few “Ewan McGregor” types, would be known to a American audience, out of the hundred or so which have appeared.
6. TG3’s bias for Astons, Ferraris and other European exotica would p/o a lot of US viewers, methinks.
There are probably a few more which I have missed and I believe all the above are covered pretty well in the Forums, if you have a search around.
BTW.

madebackwards & the others at the Taping who spoke to AW.
Was AW just getting Pilot show feedback from the “FG mafia” or were there any hints from him regarding expectations he may have of the US based FG members?
