YES... WE... CAN!!!

Maybe if we flood them with letters/emails and we can get every single member of Final Gear to do it, they might be annoyed enough to post it online.

As for getting them to pick it up, not happening, b/c if I'm not mistaken, it was the choice of BBC and Andy Wilman to not pursue NBC.

This is going to be fruitless even if 10 million people love it and demand a series, here's why, I believe the biggest reason the show was canceled was because crap car companies can't afford (especially now) to sponsor a show telling the whole world why their cars suck. Seriously, the big 3 Automakers must contribute a huge portion of the operating budgets to the big 3 TV networks from Ad revenue. And guess what? Nobody is going to watch a Top Gear if the hosts have to lie and tell us why the Chevy Malibu is a must own, or that the Ford Focus is a dream to drive, or that a Dodge Ram truck is the best looking piece of machinery on the road today. The BBC model works because they are beholden to no one. We can't even do that with PBS, because as you guessed it they accept rather large contributions from virtually all major auto makers. Cable networks have the same problem. The business model for American TV just can't support a show like Top Gear. We all like the original because it's a no holds barred expose on automobiles that we are interested in knowing the truth about. Can't happen on GM's dime nor any other maker. Long Live Top Gear BBC!

As I understand it, Australia's SBS (Special Broadcasting Service), while government-funded, also accepts commercial advertising. I take it Ford, Holden and other car companies do not advertise on SBS?

SBS show plenty of car advertisements. One of the main sponsors for TGA Season 1 was VW. That said, one could be forgiven for suspecting a bit of product placement ending up in TGA. For example, 1x05 with the Audi boat challenge and the VW Golf economy challenge from 1x07 looked suspiciously like product placement. Then again, so did the infamous Astra Lawn Bowls Challenge from 1x04, and Holden isn't even an official sponsor of TGA.

Thank you for that. So it looks like TG Australia can still secure car company advertisement even if they don't slavishly pimp and praise the cars. So I'd like to think the US market could do the same...

Well i've heard of other TV series that had got canceled and tons of people wrote in letters (i think one time everyone sent in envelopes full of rice images/smilies/lol.gif) than the network started making new episodes. Maybe if everyone was writing in NBC would considered airing the show online.

Stupid question, but has the TG:US pilot made it outside of NBC and on the net somwhere? I'd love to actually see the show and see how it is.

It probably would've been posted on the main page if it was leaked somewhere.

Cinematography-wise, it looks consistent with the real thing to me (aside from the royalty-free Beethoven soundtrack). Did you work on the show? Anything with the hosts in it?

MORE!
