Tanner Faust will do alright if he is given a non-speaking role like top gear dog.
As for a 3rd host ... maybe Jason Priestley. He was good unscripted in the Hollywood & Vines series (clone of James and Oz's show), plus he can drive. In any case TG America looks like an imminent train wreck. |

Well Gears typical viewers are going to be men and Carolla is involved. Sooo I guess
the third "presenter" is going to be some blonde chick ("uuh, I like fast and shiny cars!") with big boobs... I don't know why but I dont really like Adam Carolla because altough he tries to be "The Man".. he's just some nerd who figured out a television show to peep girls tits. Nicholas Cage could be a pretty good presenter but of course a busy filmstar isn't really an option. But someone unknown who is like Cage or similar to Jay Leno would be nice. Sry for my finnish "rallydriver"-english |

you know if Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs knew anything about cars, that would be a damn good candidate.
what about Jimmy Carr....get his ass on the show.

Does there have to be a "set" third presenter for USTG? The first two seasons of the new format of TG had some other guy before they plugged May into the fix. All they really need is someone who is "good enough" for now; if the show is a success then they won't have any problems finding a quality third presenter (Tim Allen, Jay Leno?) for the show.
Also, I have to agree that it would be a very bad move to have a woman as a co-presenter. Top Gear is a first and foremost a show of, by, and for "blokes" and USTG should stick to that concept. Don't alienate the core audience before you start this project NBC. Take a clue from the BBC: they aren't having any problems pulling female viewers! (Is anyone else worried that NBC is going to try too hard to make this work and only end up with a mess?) |

Chris Titus would be great, and I think Tanner will do a decent job. Not too sure about Adam, though.
As for the third, you could also look at Bill Goldberg, and although he's extremely busy, Chip Foose. |

The chemistry of the three hosts is probably more important than the individual strengths of the third host.
I wonder how Alex Roy would do? He did kind of choke when he was on Letterman, but his coast to coast drive gives him major cred in my book. I don't know about Priestley, he always seemed annoying when narrating "Rides". What about Brock Yates? I don't think he would sugar coat reviews. He might even piss a few people off. |

I'd love to see Jesse James actually, though I wouldn't be surprised if they approached Frankie Muniz or Kendra Wilkinson.

Echoing others here, I'm crossing my fingers for Chris Titus.

Paul Tracy.
He's acerbic, prone to fits of brutal honesty and can run the tires off just about anything...and importantly, still out of work. ![]() I'll second the removal of Faust, but I'd really prefer Carolla not be there either. I don't care how much he knows about cars, he's not good at being the "lead" guy on any of his shows...

Faust is an Opera. Foust is a driver. Let's at least get Tanner's name straight.

Because I enjoy the abuse:
Over act? Yes, I can do that, too. (A director would have been handy for this shoot. Not in the budget, though.)
Tanner Foust at the 2007 Oregon Trail Rally (interviews laced throughout.) His co-driver is pretty popular, too.

Tommy Kendall would rock. I met him at a race years ago and told him "you should check out this British show, "Top Gear" - you'd be a natural". Just don't give him a boring script like on all those SpeedTV informercials.
I like the Paul Tracy idea but he would get bored in 10 minutes. I really think NBC dropped the ball with Dan Neil. He is the american version of James May. |

I hear the guy from Seinfeld is mad into cars, Porsches mostly !
Jay Leno would have been suitable, its a shame he doesnt want to. I just hope its not going to be some Latin idiot out of Pimp my ride, who cant speak english and just fits seat covers. Oh, it could be that woman who looks good on calenders and drives real good too ! I think a girl would be alright for the first series (like in TG the useless bargain guy) just for men viewing purposes, then get someone else. |
