Target Audience: This Forum? (and thoughts about DVR) - Page 2

Initially, because I won't want to wait I'll watch it live, but pretty much every show I like I record and then watch later or otherwise get it online. That's even the case with most TG episodes, although since the 11th season won't be airing here for several months I will have to download it because I won't have the opportunity to record and then watch it whenever, as I did throughout the 10th season.

I will continue download it and many other shows untill there is a decent, affordable way to watch TV shows on demand without paying for a ton of channels I will never ever watch.

It's time for TV to have a revolution and move away from the channel surfing format that's been around for well over half a century.

The only things I usually DVR are races, because SPEED air them at ludicrous times and then show reruns of Pinks, Low Life and all those uninteresting shows during the day for no apparent reason, besides NASCAR.

No kidding. At least ABC has their eps online, but the player still sucks.

I think Broadcasters should get their act together and realize most people aren't just conforming to their schedules anymore. Maybe they could post all their shows online and get ratings through that as well...?

I'd love to watch it when it airs live, but it really depends on whether or not that time worked for me. Regardless, I'd download them later anyway in case I wanted to rewatch them.

Also, for me at least, I would be much more inclined to watch it live if it were being broadcast in HD, because then I could watch it in HD on my TV and keep a regular rip on my hdd for rewatching to save space.

I DVR everything I can. It is the fastest, most reliable, and easiest way to get everything on cable. I use MythTV which even cuts out the ads. So for this I will no doubt have it recorded, maybe even on the Comcast DVR I have too so I can watch it on the big TV in 5.1 surround. When I watch it just depends on when it airs and when I am home. I may watch it almost live if I am at home when it airs.

The only stuff I download is stuff not on cable. Stuff like Top Gear, and anime which I prefer to watch subbed even if it is now shown here.

Since America is big on HD broadcast, any chance TG US will be HD?

I would say yes, almost everything on NBC is in HD anyway.

I don't have a TV when I'm not in San Diego and even when I'm in SD I usually just watch the Daily show, Law and Order, and maybe some news once in a blue moon. So if its uploaded then the internet is the best option.

I concur. Most of the US broadcasts are now in HD. Even local newscasts and other things that do not need to be in HD.
