Default Think they will ever film in New York?

I really wanted to go to the filming in LA, but a plane ticket there is way too much. Ever think there will be a possibility where they will film in NY? I can see so many hilarious challenges spawning here.

They could make the pretaped films tthere, definittely. Studio audience tapings? i doubt it. It's about as likely as the Tonight Show w Leno being taped in NY or Letterman taped in LA (altho anything is possible).

New York has neither the studio space nor the car culture.

Exactly. I imagine they'll do more filmed segments in places outside of LA, but I highly doubt the studio bits will be anywhere else.

Look at Top Gear -- it's always filmed in their studio.

Haha, you are correct, but they may not have directly film in New York. Check this out: http://www.monticellomotorclub.com/

It's only 1 hour 30 minutes away from Manhattan (or a 25 minute helicopter ride). Granted it's a very exclusive club, but I'm sure TGA won't have an issue getting around that.

Cheap Car Challenge anyone?

What they should do is have a cheap car challenge that revolves around a certain country of cars and bring them to be judged at Larz Anderson in Brookline, mass. they could revolve the challenges on the east cost also!

What was that challenge in the middle of Die Hard With A Vengeance? Something about beating a subway train over 30 blocks in... a short amount of time. I sense an "ambitious, but rubbish" episode coming on...

Top Gear made a budget Bond car in series 1 - and, for anyone that remembers it, it really was a budget job. 300 quid to buy the car and all the extra bits... and they made it from a Rover 800. How about TGA tries to do the same with some mid-90s carbage and turn it into a budget version of KITT, or the Back To The Future DeLorean (make sure to spare about $10 for a can of chrome spraypaint...), or the General Lee... it's just annoying that I barely know enough about 90s American cars to come up with a suitably groanworthy equivalent of the Rover 800 - in that case if it wasn't a Rover it had to be an utterly shagged-out XJ-S, which came later at the end of series 2...

...I'm sure you can all mentally shape that into something coherent.

They need to come to the Northeast in general. Everyone bitches about how the US has no good driving roads, its because they're in the northeast not the fucking desert, assholes.

hmmmm... '96 Chevy Cavalier KITT... '90 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme "Delorean"... ooo, and a (any year) Toyota Camry "General Lee" would be hilarious

as for "shagging out" a car to beat the crap out of supercars: mid-'90s Buick Regal with the 3800. That engine can take the NOS

Yeah, we only have the biggest and best car show in North America, we're only home to the North American headquarters for most import brands, and we certainly don't have any interesting driving roads up in the nearby mountains, nope, sure don't, and certainly no millionaire enthusiast private tracks like Monticello Motor Club, no sir. And certainly no enthusiasts like garage419.com in NY, no sir.

But I do get what you're saying if by "no car culture" you are talking strictly about Manhattan -- tough for the average person to keep a car there. But just as you have to leave LA to enjoy driving on twisty roads, you can probably find more exciting roads, closer, when you leave Manhattan.

And as for studio space, no empty hangars in NYC but lots of TV is filmed there -- Letterman, Conan, SNL, soaps, etc.

Do you mean the auto show? Because if you do, Chicago's is bigger and better. images/smilies/tongue.gif

But seriously Chicago's is the biggest in the US at least.

If they ever filmed in New York, Adam Corolla would be robbed and beaten, Tanner Faust would be raped and Eric Stromer would wind up drugged in a gay night club.

it would be cool to see because the three brits would be SO out of place in a hectic place like NY.

Add in some crappy cheap cars, a challenge, and a random points system, and it would be hilarious
