Top Gear hosts - are they supposed to be the US version of UK trio?

If anyone saw the filming of the pilot, did you get the impression that Tanner is supposed to be Hamster and Eric was supposed to fir the James May role?

Although granted, Captain Slow can never be replaced...just curious. Sorry if this was brought up already somewhere else. images/smilies/smile.gif

And did they tell the pilot audience when they think it might air on NBC?

It has and it isn't a 1:1 match. They're just three guys who have chemistry rather than an American version of each.

NBC still has to green light the pilot and order more shows. Andy hoped for January or something though.

I am waiting for it to sneak on to the net somewhere - eyes peeled. I think if NBC are smart they might try that and get some feed back from an un-official "release" so that if it stinks (not very likely btw) they can deny it was the final version and re-do and re-cut.

Thanks Viper for replying - not sure - did you mean yes, when you said "It has" meaning there is an attempt for example Tanner looks young lke Hamster does, etc...though not an exact match to the UK version?

yeah, was hoping to have some good TV to watch this summer, too bad NBC didn't debut the pilot then!

I don't see why they would try to make them look similar, as most of the US audience don't know who the hell they are anyway.

well, its not them trying to make them the same, its the formula of the show. it's 3 "normal" guys reviewing cars. we had a saying in the Military, "if it aint broke, dont fix it", so, im looking and hoping for 3 funny guys talking about cars. nobody should expect more than that. all week in the Aussie forum they have been trying to compare the new TG to TGUK, lets not do that here.

Yeah a pre-air would be nice, dunno about NBC but Showtime does this all the time: Weeds, Dexter, Californication & more images/smilies/tongue.gif
