To be honest, thats the crappiest reason for not watching a TV show.
Not much will change if its in HD anyway.

Yes, new content is hugely easier to produce in HD and it will be a good advertising tool for people like you who only want to watch TV in the latest and greatest format.

Well, even the non-produced-in-HD stuff looks great on my 720 but I've seen it look shitty on a 1080...

Primetime (nearly all shows in primetime, especially on NBC, are in HD) and a new show, so 99% chance it will be in HD.

I hate the fact I get nearly every channel I don't care about in HD but don't get NBC in HD. Why in gods name would I want to watch CNN in HD?

How do you get CNN HD but not NBC? Is there no local NBC affiliate around you? |

I think you mean the cutoff of analog signal in favor of digital signal. Digital signal is not the same as HD, if i'm not mistaken.

Basically, you can send a couple low res (SD) channels out (10.1, 10.2, 10.3, and 10.4 for example) or one HD channel (10.1).

I'm in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming, all our major networks we get from Denver. They feed in HD, but our cable company doesn't deliver it to us in HD, it's stupid. CBS and Fox are the basic networks we get in HD, along with about 30-40 cable networks like A&E, TBS, USA, etc. and some HD movie channels. It bugs the crap out of my, the only shows I watch on Fox and CBS are The Price is Right (which isn't done in HD anyway) and House.

The FCC gives you X amount of bandwidth and you're free to do with it as you wish -- either some HD channels, some SD channels, or a mix. There's even options to do things like data sending I believe to go along with your TV channel.

I'd tend to think the same thing but I think you'd be surprised how much of what NBC shows are not in HD. NBC is basically the only channel we get in HD, over the air, and there are quite a few of their shows that aren't in HD. Scrubs isn't even in HD, neither is any of the game shows or reality tv shows and they've already described this "Gear" as being a reality tv show about cars. I think it could go either way honestly but I sure do hope they go HD since it'd be about the only reason left I'd watch it. I'd love to see all those cool cars we are all familiar with in HD.

It's a lot easier to put new shows in HD than switch out all the cameras on old shows.
