Instead of a F1 board they can have V8SC board and due to the way the SBS is funded they will have a 3SP auto RB gemini as their reasonably priced car.

Sounds a bit pricey to me. Why not a TE Gemini diesel?

Any idea when this show will turn up - I'd like a torrent or an FTP?

Looks like they're doing casting for Top Gear host now.
http://topgear.sbs.com.au/
Here are the requirements:
Quote:
To be part of this fantastic opportunity, you are:

* 18 years or older on 1 January, 2008 - though if you’re a Lewis Hamilton whose skills could impress our insurance company, then we might consider you.

* The holder of a current, unblemished drivers licence.

* Available for filming in Australia at dates to be confirmed in 2008.

* Not affiliated (beHolden ... hmm) to any car company or motoring company through sponsorship, commercial arrangements or employment.

* Demonstrably knowledgeable, opinionated and passionate about cars - and able to deliver that knowledge and passion (along with humour, of course) on screen.

* NOT a clone of the magnificent and simply unique Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond or James May. We’re looking for Australia’s own Top Gear faces. Of course you could be a clone of The Stig.

* You may be an amateur motor enthusiast and expert who’s not a television presenter. You may be a motoring journalist with little or no television experience. You may have some television experience BUT we’re NOT looking for classic television presenters without knowledge, experience or expertise.
Might be good.

Oh yeah! I'd defiantly go (if the studios were to be in Melbourne images/smilies/think.gif).

Seriously, if they get Glenn Ridge, OMG, IMA GONNA SHOOT HIM! images/smilies/dry.gif

Thank god they are doing this, people can always grown into their roles on television, lets just hope they do pick some awesome people. I'm actually thinking that if they get the right blend of people this could be good.

Also, I hope they get some classy people, not the ricer/hoon-type 20 year-old idiots...

Oddly enough, having read through that, the faqs and the t&cs, I didn't see anything that dictates you must be Australian - only that you must be free to be in Australia in 2008.

I'm half tempted to put something together images/smilies/tongue.gif

Note the 2nd last requirement:

"NOT a clone of the magnificent and simply unique Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond or James May. We’re looking for Australia’s own Top Gear faces. Of course you could be a clone of The Stig"

Since we're all fans of UK Top Gear we, if we apply, may run the serious risk of turning into one of the 'original' trio which is not what they're looking for. I'm sure it wouldn't be deliberate images/smilies/tongue.gif

No go for it - I would like all available members to try out - but actually what they want is a person who is capable of communication.

Just remember that Nick Giannopoulos endorsed the Kia Rio when it was released here. He's not so much a 'rev-head' as a 'money-grubbing sell-out corporate whore-bag'.

And he sucks and he isn't funny and Wog Boy was the worst movie I've ever seen. images/smilies/mrgreen.gif
