Default ***** UPDATED ****** TGA S2 "Confirmed"

After the recording of TGA EP3, I had a chance to chat to Warren, and he is speculating that S2 is going ahead, We all need to give TGA a chance so they can start with bigger budget stories, remember TGUK started out the same way and TGA is the same, however it would be a shame that TGA was canned due to poor aussie support, just think how crap S1 of TGUK is compared to current episodes, Then Imagine S8 of TGA how good it could be if we support them and give them the valuable feedback they need.

I say give the crew a fair go because it has potential!! MORE SUPPORT MEANS MORE MONEY AND SOME REAL COOL EPISODES!!!.

********** NEW NEWS *********

Oct 22nd 2008

I was at EP7 tonight and it is confirmed !!! I spoke to warren again and he is "excited to be back next season".

Also the timing of next year may happen in april according to Charlie. So he can avoid his MotoGp commitments, he said it is challenging for him to commit to both MotoGp and other BBC commentary aswell as TopGear.
Although he is dedicated to TGA'S success this will only take the pressure off all his travelling from Europe to Australia between MotoGP to film TopGear

All 3 of them tonight are in high sprits only being notified hours before the filming that S2 is "GREEN LIGHT" I believe we will see more from these guys now they know that they have a job next year, Kudos to Charlie, Warren and Steve for giving it their best this year not knowing they were still employed. This shows true Aussie sprit and dedication to what I believe is going to be "the best Australian Carshow", I know thats a big statement but I feel if we give them a "FAIR GO" they will do the same for us.

GO BOYS DO US PROUD!!!!

From www.Caradvise.com.au

With the show green lit for a second season, SBS Director of Television and Online, Matt Campbell has said Clarkson’s support reinforces the network’s confidence in Top Gear Australia being a continuing, long term success for SBS.

Indeed. I'm not an Aussie, but I'm enjoying this thus far. I can see the improvement from Ep1 to Ep2 already, so I can only hope for the best as the episodes progress.

TGUK had it's 'off' episodes now and then, so one can only expect that from TGAU as well. But one can always hope for the best.

Thanks for that vspec.

I'm with you by the way. I reckon TGA is going alright for just two episodes, sure, it needs improvements, but I reckon they'll get there. They've a massive shadow cast over them, which everyone is comparing them too, and with some justification. But it's simply too much to expect a new show to reach the highs of TG UK in just two episodes. Give them time...

One small point - Warren's 'speculating' doesn't equal a confirmation. But that aside, I agree totally. TGAu needs to be given a chance to find it's feet, and constructive feedback is what they need.

i believe, they will do way better in S2. look at ep 2 they are already improving, the smart car segment was superb. . the producer of the TGA needs to get onto this site.

Well i will put it this way, warren seemed excited when he was telling me s2 is hopefull.

I thought the guys are trying hard!!, they seem to have some big shoes to fill. All three of them are proud to be representing australia and the chemistry between them will get better over time. Warren seems more relaxed in EP3 doing the x6 review and steve did a great job on the AMG Black series CLK63.

Even though its a copy of TGUK they will "aussie it up"

I hope it gets picked up for a second season. Even though it's kind a "meh", it has potential and I imagine it's better than anything else there besides the UK import.

Only catch is, that Australia has a patheticly low amount of locally produced content on televison.
So watching an imported show instead of a local show isn't really such a big issue.

1x04 is more of the same... Steve's review and Warren's fun segment are right on the money. Its slowly getting better and building steam. i reckon well worth a second season and beyond

1x04 was very good, and as I mentioned in the other thread, Peter Abbott from Freehand took the time out to have a chat to GerFix and I after the filming (he thought we were from Fifth Gear! ). Peter mentioned that he does get on the net to see what the punters are saying and that Freehand are benchmarking TGA against TG Series 3. They realise they can't expect to have something as polished as TG Series 10 or 11 from a standing start.

If 1x04 is anything to go by, they're a poofteenth away from that benchmark. At this rate, they will have smashed this benchmark by 1x08 ...

Oh, gotcha. Why do they film so far in advance? Top Gear only films 4 days in advance.

I'll +1 this, I fully agree that giving them time will yield better episodes!

As a Canadian, I liked the first episode a lot. They just need time to jive together and get the track filming etc right.

They have a great base to work on and mold into their own thing, as other people have stated, it's like S1 of TGUK. Only with a packed studio

Does Freehand actually have any idea of what they are doing? When I visited their website a while back their resume gave me serious doubts about the quality of TGA. Andy Wilman's input may have made it watcheable but do they have any hope of matching the likes of the BBC? Seems like a very tall order.
