Its actually an Harley Davidon Sportster i own. The pictures is from the first day i got the bike (which it was raining.. fun). Today the bike has new rims (due to an accident), SE II pipes, SE II intake, new handel bars and grips. As for the hypnotizing question.. I think its real if people let themself be hypnotized. | ||

Car: 2000 Civic SiR Rep Power: 24 ![]() ![]() | ^^Your sig is hilarious. You should add "I don't own a 7/11 or an AK-47!!". As far as hypnotism (sp?) goes, it's real, but like it has been mentioned, the subject has to achieve a certain mental state before it works. It's not like some hypno guy can just walk up to you in the street, wave a pendulum in front of you, and you fall asleep. It takes more than that. |

| Until someone hypnotizes me I don't believe it. Kind of like aliens.

| The hypnotism is real, richard would never do anything like that...especially the part where he can't drive the Alfa...and besides I can't believe that Top Gear would do something like that...fooling around with the viewers...

| VIP | What is it about hypnotism that makes people not believe in it? I don't understand at all how someone could not believe in hypnotism. I guess some people just don't understand how infinetly complicated the human brain is. Just think about how drastically changed the brain can become when put under extreme stress or treated with drugs... people loose control of their brain all the time, how is hypnotism so hard to believe? |

| VIP | Hypnotism isn't just suggestive words. They didn't show the actual process in the Top Gear episode. It takes quite a bit of effort to become hypnotized. What they showed was just the end result - after the brain had been slowly conditioned to react to specific words in a certain way. If I say the word "chicken" it probably sets off a sets off a series of reactions in your brain right? You'd most likely think of a whole bunch of different objects and meanings in an instant. Linguistically, that word will trigger numerous responses throughout your brain. Hypnotism is just a way of maniuplating those responses. You can never get complete control over a person (to the point where you could tell them to go attack someone for example), but you can maniuplate the brain enough to re-route these reactions to completely different areas of the brain. Of course, that means you can get some pretty bizzare behaviour out of a person. If anyone is interested in this stuff at all, you should check out some books or websites on cognitive science. Here is a short summary of what cognitive science actually is. Enjoy. ![]() |
