The Clio vs. bike segment was fantastic! The bit with the old lady saying "Ai credo!" was hilarious! Hey, Bihus, was that near the Castle of St. Jorge? A couple of streets seemed familiar to me.
Respect to the biker! I can not see myself do that in my mountain bike. Not at that speed, anyway.
The Clio looked pretty good. It is one of the more popular cars in Portugal. Speaking of which, beautiful roads those James was driving on, before the race!
I think they actually started the race from the entrance of Castelo São Jorge and they finished near the Rossio square area. The part where there ware tram rails in the street seemed to be near the Fé cathedral. (I lived in Portugal for 10 years and visited Lisbon reguarly) The "velhota" (portugese for old lady) was funny images/smilies/biggrin.gif

James May made me laugh a lot this episode, I always liked his sense of humour.

The old lady said "Ai credo!", it means something like "Oh, goodness" or "Dear God". It's just something typical for old Portugese people to say.

man its a car show, if it informs you of new cars and motoring news its done the job.

But TG is all that + all the jokes and fun.

Just when you thought the new series was a bit tame, here comes this episode....Pure fun images/smilies/mrgreen.gif . Loved the Clio-Bike race (in the way they filmed it and hats off to the team that chose the route) although I'm doubting whether it was also scripted....or probably shot a number of times to pick the best parts, I mean come on, the bike jumping over the car at the same time. Seems a bit too coincidential images/smilies/unsure.gif .

The supercar challenge was good because the tasks keep changing everytime they have a similar competition which keeps it fresh.

Overall a true Top Gear Episode....and by the way, the next one is going to be a CRACKER images/smilies/thumbsup.gif I bet it will be the best Ep. of the series.

Great ep.

I however did learn do not eat anything while watching TG, otherwise choking hazard.

Loved the oil change/sparkplug bit.

Being a biker, I liked that part with the Clio Vs Biker. But the gap over the car had to be scripted. The timing couldn't have possibly be thát good.

Also the Zonda F part was indeed too short but overal a very good laugh (again) images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

well....

a bit of a change in terms of pace, this was a much calmer episode..
(I guess we'll be back on track next week images/smilies/wink.gif )

still, James has shown that he is a gentleman: he can drive quickly, when he has to images/smilies/lol.gif
that segment in lissabon was quite nice, beautiful city, good music, funny old ladies images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

used car challenge, well, wasn't very interesting, but a couple of funny bits images/smilies/smile.gif

Pretty fun show

-- On the contrary thought Zonda bit was perfect. Just short and intense, enough to point out the new things about the zonda as you know about the car already and so intense you'd have to go back and watch it again!!! Even hammond was speechless
-- Also they pointed out the stuff like the Mag wheels, Brakes, and Exhaust that warranty the (F) and the extra cost, where as on Fifth Gear Tom and Tiff complained about how it was more for an extra badge (F)
-- The Clio vs Bike - some sick (cool) editing.
-- Ellen MacArthur is cool

Great episode, i pretty much laughed or smiled through it all.

I must say quite an average episode that was. Despite that two records were broken, I found the star in reasonably priced car quite boring and zonda f segment was way too short. The best bit was clio vs bike that's for sure. Oh and the bit with James parking lambo was hilarious images/smilies/biggrin.gif

OMG the Zonda images/smilies/eek.gif images/smilies/eek.gif
OMG OMG. I've heard i in other videos before, but jesus christ does that thing sound crazy.
The bit was really a bit too short, i would have wanted more yelling and tears from Hammond. But OMG!! images/smilies/eek.gif images/smilies/thumbsup.gif images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

All you people complaining about the Zonda segment beeing too short. JC's first words were "Last week on the show we had a Zonda...." so I don't get the complaints about that segment being short.

As far as Ellen's fastest lap, she shows that the fast way around the track is to put a few tires into the dirt here and there (especially all 4 on the last turn).

Great episode, the teaser for next week looks crazy images/smilies/eek.gif I really think it is going to be the best one we've seen yet. The oil change/spark plug bit was good, and seeing Gentleman James get further than anyone else was good to see. The Stig's driving in that diesel Vauxhall was great. Another good episode from the TG crew.

Fantastic episode, I enjoyed every minute of it. I almost fell out of my chair laughing when Hammond broke the rear-view mirror with his helmet-clad head. images/smilies/lol.gif

If you look carefully you'll notice that they ALWAYS film multiple times the same races, it's always "staged". I bet they do race for real, but then refilm bits of it. In order to not need extra takes on most of these races they would need a massive film crew and be in impossible positions.

Is my episode the only one thats choppy? images/smilies/sad.gif

The last one was aswell, and so were the 700mb versions, so BBC2 must have changed something? :S

I am completely lost, and have no idea what to do. The rest of my TG collection is fine.

Very good episode. I think the Zonda review was better than Jason's in FG. Its too much of a coincidence that the 3 guys came up with 3 different marques.....a Ferrari, a Maserati and a Lambo and no repeats. I dont think they do the buying themselves. I think the cars are purchased for them and they do the selection or toss a coin or pick pieces of paper with names on it and then start the cheap car tests. In the last one, there was 1 German (BMW - which Hammond likes anyway), 1 Japanese (Mitsu - which Jeremy thinks is great) and James, with an English Jag. - just too much of a coincidence.
I like Ellen's style and competitiveness...she is good. Fast too. James should have won that race....he loses too much.

Actually James won the last "Cheap Car Challenge," so the only person who hasn't so far is Hammond. I think people are reading a bit too much into things, though. Just enjoy it for what it is: entertainment. James really shined in this episode, though. The Zonda F segment and the 10k segment did seem to end rather abruptly, though. Which is a shame, because that Zonda is really a spectacular-looking car. And Jeremy and Richard moving the car during the parking challenge...dirty, dirty, dirty.
Actually no one won because no one made it to the destination. All failed at different points on the trip. To understand this better, think of an endurance rally where none of the competitors make it to the end. There was no finisher, therefore no winner. To win, you first have to finish.

Overall, I liked this episode. as I said in my earlier post.
