Loss of the NSX in 7x06 staged as well?
So I was watching S7E6 a minute ago and Jeremy was doing the bit where he tried to match his time in Gran Turismo 4 at Laguna Seca in an NSX (1 minute 41 seconds) with his time in real life which came out to be 1 minute and 58 seconds.
I decided to boot up the old PS2 and see if i could do a 1.41 on Laguna with the NSX. However there are several NSX's to choose from, theres the NSX-R, NSX, NSX-S etc, so I looked back at the show and saw that he chose the standard NSX in the beginning. But then during his lap you can see that he is using the NSX-R (You can tell by the spoiler and the roof, also the cars are slightly different colors, the NSX-R is a darker blue). So anyway I decided to go with the normal one and I managed to put down a 1.43 at what seemed like the cars limit. I don't think that Jeremy could have done 1.41 with the regular NSX using the D-pad so I'm pretty sure he used the NSX-R on that fast lap, but why? The NSX they use in the real life lap is not the R, again you can tell by the spoiler and roof, so why did they spoil the results by using the different cars? I thought they liked the NSX. You can see them cut between the cars on his GT4 lap even, they show the NSX at 50:02 and a few other places, while in the rest of the lap it is the NSX-R. Just something I thought I would share, since it slipped past me until I was looking for it, what do you guys think? |

Maybe you can't drive j/k
![]() Seriously, keep trying and you will at least equal him, if not beat him. I just turned mine on, did 5 laps and i got a 1.40.5.

Can't remember it too well, but wasn't it about showing that however real the driving games are now, they're still way off the real thing? No bumps, no fear turning into blind apex at speed etc. If thats the case then they want a fast PS2 lap time and slower real-life time to illustrate their point, which is "close, but no cigar".

That's a coincence. I spent all of last night racing GT4 and came home to watch that very episode again.
I think he did indeed use different cars to make all the filming shots easier...you know, so they can edit and cut/paste stuff so it aligns with the "real life" shots. Ive also tried the "standard" NSX but couldn't get further than a 1.45. But thats largely due to the fact that I suck

Well I think as they highlighted with the James learning to drive from Jackie Stewart segment, normal people usually can't get to the limits of a car. Although I would find it interesting to see how fast a standard NSX can actually get around Laguna Seca. Maybe 1:45 I'd say, its kind of embarrassing for Clarkson to be 17 seconds slower
At any rate its the message that counts, not the details.

The point being that while the times that cars can achieve on GT4 are very close to the actual times achievable, the ordinary schmo won't get too close in real life.
OT but I think it was an Autocar(?) presenter/writer driving an F-1 car on Youtube(?) that I saw recently, but anyway, he was impressive. I was expecting a second or two within the test drivers time, but he was less than a second behind and actually a little faster through one corner (he had slightly drier track). Thats something to be proud of.

Meh? Clarkson was using a wheel, maybe there's a chance he's actually half decent at GT. Keep in mind he was also using arcade mode as well, although i'm not sure if that makes a difference.

right theres this thing at the front of your house (if u live in one) called a door. its usually made of wood or PVC and it may well have a window in it too. theres a slot with a flap on it for the mail man to deliver bills and there is also a handle which may or may not have some kind of ornamental style to it. what you do is you grasp this handle with a hand and you turn it. you turn it till it stops and then you pull the door toward you, the door has hinges that allow it to do this. you then step through the door into a new world of fresh air and light. you might need sun glasses and copious amounts of sun cream because there is an object out there, high in the sky, known as the sun. as you have not seen such an object in a very long time it is uknown how your skin and eyes will react.... you could just burst into flames for example. still, once you have grown accustomed to this "sunlight" and things like grass and trees and super markets.... there is a whole world out there, beyond top gear and computers, which you can enjoy (while it lasts). you will find that this new world outside the confines of the TV is very much better than ANALyzing top gear and posting the tedious results onto the tinterweb. however, do be careful... be very weary of a creature known as "woman". while woman can bring much joy, woman can also bring major headache at any time without warning. |

I've read all you said and the door still won't open! What do I do what do I do?
Maybe this is the sort of door that opens outwards, does such a thing even exist?
