Did you know that this thread is about Top Gear [08x02]?

Another comment on the episode and indeed the season on the whole is that, in my opinion, a switch away from the Liana was a bit unnecessary.

Excellent episode, a surprisingly unbiased review of the Z06. I don't quite get his complaint about the car being too wide for normal use, since Clarkson himself drives a Ford GT images/smilies/wacko.gif

Default Music during the XK Review

Does anyone know what song it was they were playing during the XK review? It seems like a tribal song, but I have no idea how to look for it.

On another note, is there a resource to check what songs they have used?

Thanks so much in advance!

To be honest I was a bit underwhelmed by this episode. I dunno, it seemed to be missing something. I expected the radio bit to be much, much funnier. The kayak race, so so. Not much of real perspective as opposed to say Mitsu vs Sled so you couldn't really get into it.

The new Jag? I can't get over that nose. I know it's "Jag" nose, but to me it just looks too much like a Taurus - just .... i dunno, so plain. I like the rest of the car though.

Indeed not enough James.

The Z06 segment was pretty much the coolest bit ( and even that could have been so much better ). I was too surprised by relatively few pokes at shody American build, but then I really don't think JC hates Am cars as much as he leads us to believe. I mean the guy's full of himself and loves power more than anything. That's more American than most Americans. I'm not a great fan of Vettes and the new one looks, only ok, but I went "wow, that looks pretty good" seeing the Z06. Comparing a Vette to a Ferrari, Porsche, AM etc is a mistake. Compare it to another car that costs 60 grand and your wow factor will go thru the roof. A Ferrari is a nice car to have a poster off, a Z06 you can actually own. Yes there's no comparing build quality but what do you expect? Have Ferrari throw something together that will kick Vette's ass for the same money. Yes it's funny how the same body panel can be called "Flexible" in case of one car, and "Flimsy" in another.

On to see what the next week brings....

A few pages have passed since I last posted here just last night regarding the beginning of a flame war. People haven't complied at all with what was said and suggested and this is the worst Specific Ep discussion I've ever seen thanks to few individuals.

Do it again - your post will be deleted.

I usually judge the quality of TG episodes by how rewatchable they are. The series opener was pretty rewatchable, but this second episode fell quite flat really.

I didn't care about the canoe, star in the reasonably priced car was dull and the XK is a pale imitation of the Aston Martins. The radio segment was far too long and had far too few laughs. I was quite surprised by the Z06 time as well as how much it shockingly looked like a Ferrari when put side by side. (I missed the reflection swap, nice touch).

That said, the cinematography was absolutely awesome. The parts where they employed the high speed camera was done to great effect and really shows up the stuff done on Fifth Gear.

sigh. i personally admit i hate american cars - most of them, and don't visit this forum as much as i tend to visit HK local forums instead. But having seen this stupid war about 2 users fighting about their views on american cars, wasting about 8 pages of it, i really hope it doesn't happen again. images/smilies/mad.gif it's annoying and totally left the topic about this weeks episode of Top Gear. yes, this episode might actually have given comments and views that are totally unexpected but don't use this space to give a shout and fight about it. this really isn't the place.

this stupid fight has now made me to start reconsidering what is happening in the US [excuse me for souding stupid as well if it happens], and i really now hope next week's top gear will be much much better and not cause another weird fight/war about "how i think of american cars".

Regarding the Z06, what is that whistling sound that I'm hearing it make on the high-speed passes? We all know it can't be a supercharger so maybe it's just the air intake?

I'm not talking about a random sound that was edited in. If you listen to the Z06 as it does the high-speed passes you will hear a whistle. I've heard that whistle in other videos of the Z06 as well.

The whistle could be coming from the butterfly in the exhaust.

I've always preferred TG over FG and BY A LOT. This week, however, I found TG totally dull. It was a boring episode, full of nonesense and filler segments.

The testing of the Z06 was great and the Corvette really surprised me, though the handling isn't as good as a European car. The only thing I didn't not enjoy was the comparison of this car with a Ferrari. It may go round a track faster than a F430 and cost 100,000 less than a Ferrari, but that comparison for me, is insulting. Besides, it is meant to go round faster than a F430 because it has a 7.0 Litre motor!!

The race was OK, not the best one but curious to watch, especially Hammond's crash.

The Jaguar bit was boring to me. I would have expected a proper race of challenge between the Jaguar and the German cars, as they've done before (including one with the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, a BMW and another car I can't remember right now).

The Radio Station bit was boring as hell, stupid and nonesense, and they created so much chaos and annoyment of the people. The poor radio producer was dying in desperation!!

Hope next episode is much much much better, and more of the style of a proper TG episode.

Well, everyone's already said what I wanted to say, and I'm staying the heck out of the vette argument, so here's something completely different: anyone caught that quote from Gordon Ramsey? JC: "[...]next time, just hold off the garlic. Seriously." GR: "You spat! You should have swallowed!" --> that, combined with JC's face, really made my perv-o-meter kick in images/smilies/unsure.gif images/smilies/blush.gif (where's a sweatdrop smiley when you need it?? )

Really.....hahah. The Z06 handles great and it would have not made it so fast around the track if it could not handle as well as it does.

You really need to get off your high horse man. What makes it insulting? The cars are in the same class and competing against each other in the markets.

Norway, of course. There's a tax on displacement, which make the prices on vettes and similar cars soar.

How come cars with up to 120hp less are faster than Z06 if its such a great handler? Most sports car companies new toys are coming out over the next two years so it will slip back down soon enough.

They are not in each others markets, a ferrari is a exotic, luxury sport car, the Z06 is heavy track car.
