Okay, so I added a thread about this to the Top Gear General forum, but as it's part of this episode:

Clarkson's S-Class test: Firstly he's wrong about the S Class being the first to offer Digital TV in the car. BMW 3 Series (E90) has had it for the last year (albeit as an optional extra. The S Class may well have been standard kit but is this likely?)

Also, the nightvision - BMW announced and launched this on the 5, 6 and 7 series in 2005.

And lastly, the Merc control system for entertainment, satnav etc - it's exactly the same concept as BMW iDrive - screen, control knob and voice activation (and I suspect the same operating system), which Clarkson hates so much, so beyond a few extra tweaks to the software, why is he praising the Merc system so much?

Yeah I know.. he's a Merc man. Unfair BMW-knocking all the time though

(And yes I love my BMW's. I know other manufacturers offer this stuff to and BMW may not have been the first.. blah blah.. images/smilies/smile.gif )

I never saw it installed on a car for sale...
Just because a company announces means crap. GM had it on a few demo cars long ago with NV installed on them, but nothing came of it.
And again, the iDrive is not the same as Command.. its not the same "OS", they are two very different beast. Go sit in an S Class and see what i mean, Merc would never use BMW's iDrive system because it would upset owners, and, have you ever used iDrive, its crazy!
2nd post with the same thing is starting to get old.. why dont you vist these guys

Can you leave the nightvision on when you turn your lights off?

I thought that episode was amazing! Not as funny as last weeks...but I thought it was better and had more content.

Didn't the Volvo XC90 have nightvision as an option? I liked the S-Class review and the one which Jeremy modified was very funny when it was taken around the track images/smilies/w00t.gif

EDIT: I can't seem to find the option on Volvo UK's website, here's a website which mentions it.

Best episode of this season. Incredible S-Class, would've liked to see the Cayenne on the track, halarious with James in the back seat and the best looking car in the world with the fastest lap time. Fantastic.( and i still like the boxter s more.)

you can't blame him though, the new designs are just disgusting period.

he did like the old ones though, when they featured them.

Frankly as a petrolhead I thought that was a great segment. How else to prove a car's worth (especially one 'built' by Clarkson) that testing the crap out of it. Now what would really be fantastic is if they actually crash tested it in proper Euro NCAP test style...I have visions of the ultra-dense car flying through the wall images/smilies/biggrin.gif Oh and the fireplace running during the lap was classic Top Gear.

The Cayanne bit was rather boring, but the fact that the end was so close was very cool...although I think the best part of the segment was when see Hammond go over that big bump and he says "oh..that sounded expensive"

And yes I also freaked out thinking that Jeremy was going to step out of the car....

Great Episode!

Did anyone ever find out how they "properly" spelled Koenigsegg on the show?

Right, then....

The S-Class Cottage Car was good, not as funny as the boat car bits, but funny nonetheless... The new CCX time was awesome. The Cayenne bit was all right, the parachute idea was quite interesting, but they could've done more with it, IMO. What was that orange F1-stye car, though? I'd love to see that thing on the track, looks damned awesome.

Favorite part was when Clarkson programed the Merc's sat nav for Warsaw, Poland. They gave him crap for it last time, so he does it again. I love knife twisting.

All koenigsegg have had the option of a rear wing..
there are many cars on the board that has added options that help them do faster laptimes then stock ..
like the 997 carrera S .. it has the sports crono pack images/smilies/tongue.gif so i bet thats faster then a stock 997 carrera S ..
so should they take that off?
oh and the only people who but the CCX withoult the wing are the people that A: buy it just to have it (many..) or B: buy it to go very very fast.. (no one..)

it won't. it has 430hp, so it will probably be even slower than the 760 with 438hp and definately will not even be a match for the s600 with 510hp because they have more power without carrying around a large electric motor and heavy batteries. the s65 however has over 600hp...
