Rep Power: 0 ![]() | James May said there was an "ee-pod" connector in the Renault's glove compartment. Is that a British accent thing or do they really call it "ee-pod" for Apple I-Pods over there? -RA |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | A very entertaining show indeed. However, I cannot wit for them to be a show about cars again. Anyone else notice the Fast and Furious video game when the Stig took a whiz? To me, the cinematography implied that others need a video game while the Stig is real life Fast and Furious. |

Rep Power: 10 ![]() | I believe the Police were real. When they're putting the Stig in the back of the car, you'll notice the URL of Fife Constabulary (http://www.fife.police.uk/) at the top of the door. If they can get the car, then no doubt they could borrow the two policemen with it. I think the ending is probably staged - it was better than if he failed to reach the finish line in time. Only other ending that would fit TG would've been the Stig roaring past Clarkson at the Finish line. |

Car: RX-7, Jeep Cherokee Rep Power: 0 ![]() | Okay, I got a couple PMs about this so here goes: BIN stands for Banking Identification Number. The first 6 digits of a credit or bank card tell you the type and issuing bank. Transposed means backwards or reversed. If you do a BIN Lookup of how the card reads normally, you get nothing, however when you reverse the numbers(reverse all the numbers and then use that BIN, not reverse the original BIN) you get: Card Number: Visa 4921-81xx-xxxx-xxxx Card Issuer: Lloyds TSB Bank plc Country: United Kingdom Card type: CLASSIC,DEBIT That this was intentional or unintentional is equally plausible, however I doubt the rest of the card number would be valid, and such a simple method of obfuscation leads me to believe that this was a hint dropped on purpose for those of you who are obsessed with finding out who The Stig is. The clue could mean that he banks there, or that he resides in the London area(where the bank is located) or it could be rubbish. Yes, if you were a good detective, and the transposed number was valid, you could in theory find out who the card belonged to. It is easy to print your own magnetic cards, emboss them or have a company do this for you. the TG staff DEFINATELY have the resources to do this. The fact that it has a bogus birthdate, no security hologram and a fake sounding bank name(different from the transposed BIN) makes it rather obvious that it's not genuine. OR, they could have just used random numbers and by chance, the BIN from the transposed number comes up valid by coincidence. For those wishing to go even further, take into account the information presented on the card: ![]() Valid from 01/06 to 02/10 Security letter 'T'(Tiff?) 01-45-77 3588 4141 4718 1294 008475621 perhaps some of that means something, perhaps all of it does, and perhaps it's all bullshit. |

![]() And I still firmly believe that the end of this particular race was utterly staged. Simply continuing the story of "Stig in the real world". I don't think The Stig was ever pulled over. Why risk it? I mean, if he was pulled over there would be a record of it with his real name, and if they then made it part of the story someone's bound to look it up and find the Stig's name. Nah, this was just a skit. And a funny one. (Maby if The Stig really lost the race it was because his car broke down, and they made this up for more funny.)

Plus, I don't think UK cards have a security letter. IIRC they have a security number which consists of last three digits of the number located at the back on the signature strip.

We don't have sort codes here, so I didn't know what it was, and it's format and a previous post led me to think it was a birthdate. a sort code of 01 apparently belongs to NatWest. Also, in the US most cards have a security letter, and a number on the back signature strip. I'm not sure why you even brought that up, but yeah.

The way I see it is this: If The Stig really got pulled over sometime during his journey and they thought it was funny and wanted to use it they would have to: A) Ask the police officers to come with them to the spot they want The Stig to be arrested and reinact the whole thing for the cameras B) Hire actors as police officers and reinact the whole thing Now, obviously I think that if they were going to do it with the real police officers they would have to get clearance from someone higher up and most likely not do it when on-duty. If they hired actors they would again have to get permission to film it (with people in uniform acting as police officers and so on) and hire the people. This takes time. And if I was going to drag an entire crew to Scotland I would want to do the thing as fast as possible, and not have to return to do additional stuff. Which means that the scene was probably planned so they could shoot it while they were there, and that in turn means that the actors/real coppers were hired beforehand. I think it was planned as the end of the "Stig in the real world" skit in the segment, and that there real "race" (so to speak) in the segment was the getting-the-kit-completed-in-8-hours bit. Stig was added for comedy.
