I thought this was a pretty good episode, better than anything else on TV anyway, but did anyone else notice that Jenson's "lap" was actually done in 2 different cars? Check the number plates.

If you didn't now before: the lap is an edited version with the best bits of the laps he did.

You can see they've got different passenger seats as well. From some of the exterior shots you can see writing on the passenger headrest. But, from the inside, the headrest is plain. Makes me wonder what he did to the first one.

Maybe it's just me, but the M15 just didn't impress me the way the new Marcos or Pro Drive did. Sure it's fast around the track (really fast), but nothing on the car really stands out. Anyone notice JC hinting that the Stig is an F1 driver?? Or how the music from the roadie segment was all from Michael Mann films? Perhaps an homage to Miami Vice...(which was a huge dissapointment BTW)... images/smilies/driving.gif

can i just say, i love TG, i think its the best motorshow of all(alot better than anything we do in the states), but is is just me or does it seem like the more the show grows in popularity, the more kind of "safe" or "precanned" it becomes? like the Van man challenge, you could see the matresses in cpt. slows van, and yet they want us to believe they werent there to slow him down?? in the earlier seasons it wasnt so, or a lot less appaernt that they are rigging the outcomes. please respond as i am interested in what others think of this

I didn't like the very first van bit. It was rather boring and could have been summed up in far less time. The F1 driver and celebrity interviews were ok. I think the M15 review might have been better done had Clarkson did it. The White Van man challenge was surprisingly entertaining. When it was coming up I was going "uh no...more van stuff". Loved the burglar part especially.

^The very very worst thief in the world, which is worrying as he got into both the Transit and LDV rather too easily. images/smilies/sad.gif

Good show though.

Note to Hammond: Never, ever do a Scandinavian Flick in a van, no matter how big or small. Nearly fell off my chair laughing watching that.

I dont know why, but i didnt enjoy this episode in the slightest. Iv liked some of the "lifestyle" segments in series 8. Episode 7 rocked, but i didn't find this one very humorous.

I didnt know the stitched together clips for the SIORPC section either, why do they need to?

It's really hard to get perfect shots while keeping the continuity of a single lap together. But mostly, just the entertainment factor. It'll keep the audiences attention more if they put a high speed pass from one lap with a crazy wide turn in from another.

they should have given the new transit to Sabine!!!

Also how did James not manage to keep up with the mondeo when in the Drag race, his and JC's fan were almost side by side.

So getting ripped by Clarkson for not winning seemed to inspire Button...
Not only does Top Gear "design" super cars, they also create F1 winners. images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Top Gear is a lot funner when It's not trying so hard to be funny. I think the hardest I ever laughed watching the show was the first time the fuel economy of the Ford GT was discussed.

But this season has really hit its stride on raising the bar of its visual quality even higher. There just wasn't a segment in this whole series that was drab, dreary or looked like anything else on television. And I have some confidence that the BBC is listening to the audience response when they make changes to the show, so maybe we'll be striking a balance in the coming series.
