It was very good actually. James was hilarious, and the Veyron, wow. Golfing was very funny.
The RX-8 is a rubbish golf club carrier by the way. A family friend sold one simply because they wouldn't fit!
Did anyone else think that in that golfing hat Jezza looks a bit like Brian Johnson of AC/DC fame?
Hammond seemed way better, and they had the news!!
Not a huge fan of Hugh, but he was alright. My guess is they only showed the clip because they couldnt show the train crash. They've done it before with die another day.
Good to see top gear back to it's old self already.

i don't think i watched the same episode as the rest of you, i think bbc west midlands buggered up and showed a experiment in sleep triggers while the rest of you apparently watched something as good as top gear.

Oh and the selling out by making an advert for Hugh Grants new film in the middle of Top Gear wasn't worth it for having Hugh on the show.
Allthough I didn't think the episode was great and stuff, I don't think plugging Hugh Grant's film was annoying. It just felt something was missing. Something fun like powersliding across the Top Gear test track.

Does anyone remember the coupe test they did in series 6? This reminded me of that episode since the test was a little overlong and completely dominated the episode - the only other segment was the Veyron speed test. I am sorely disappointed that the train accident stunt was cut at the last minute, but I am hoping it will be shown soon, although it probably won't be next week if the "all American" synopsis is anything to go by.

Despite this, it was at least refreshing to see a proper road test this series, after the tide of complaints the series has seemingly obtained for its lack of serious car tests. The segment however seemed to dominate the episode a little too much, but it was at least entertaining. At least the news is back images/smilies/biggrin.gif But no series preview was launched and Top Gear Dog is nowhere to be seen, with no mention of her departure.

I think you're right about the coupe-bit dominating the episode. That I think was the reason for making me think: "Oh that's it?".

dammit, I knew something was missing but didn't realise what till I checked here. I was looking forward to jeremy's public information film

BTW, anyone notice how jeremy now pronounces "off" like the queen? Or am I imagining things, or worse still, only noticing this now

to have hugh grant they HAD to plug his latest movie. Amen, let's move on that images/smilies/smile.gif

what I ask you all... who stole 6 minutes of the show? it was 54 mins long instead of the usual 60... it was a shorter episode that I did enjoy nevertheless.

It didn't feel as rounded as previous episodes - the train would have finished it off nicely.

It's because the public information film had to be scrapped, so there was a whole section missing.

Some of you are really picky.
It was a brilliant episode. It was funny, had a wonderful mixture of cars and cocking about and some really great lines.
And the Veyron ... images/smilies/w00t.gif
The 3-car group test felt like classic Top Gear.

Even better than last week and I can't wait till next week!

It was better than last week but only just. Must say, I hope it gets better. And, would like to see the Bugatti on the track.

Don't get me wrong I loved it but it wasn't as good as it has been in the past. Plugging Hugh Grant's movie to that extent really bugged me.

But it was great to have the news back and under other circumstances (with a purely cocking about segment - trains) the Coupe Test would have been good as well.

Just felt the episode lacked a little something and we know what it was. Just goes to show how much effort goes into planning an episode.

I'm sure the Sultan of Dubai could do with the spare thirty quid. Let's ask!

I really thought the PC bridgade were going to ruin this episode. But I still enjoyed it..

Thinking about this episode again (while it's on for a second time in the background) It's not nearly as bad as I first though - there are some real gem moments but more than anything else - IT'S TOP GEAR BACK TO NORMAL! And it doesn't get better than that images/smilies/smile.gif

Donington I'm sure it should be the Sultan of Brunei? He has the odd car or two.
