^^ Agreed wholeheartedly!!!

Oh yeah, the news segment was properly good too.

Anyone notice how the RX-8 is .2 of a seconds slower than when it was first tested?

I'm not entierly certain but I think I disagree with you, partly because there isn't any discussion if everyone likes everything just the same, and partly because in older episodes discussions there's been alot of complaining (by non newbs I would assume).
(reasons for agreeing with you is that whiners are so ****ing annoying. If they didn't like something then stop watching. But then again fandom is something like 1% pure bliss, 14% enjoyment, 25% dissapointment and 60% waiting... ok I confess I just pulled those figures out of my arse but well that's sorta the way it seems to be, to me atlest)

Anyhow, I liked the episode.

I guess my main beef is the I could tell the threee coupé comparison was staged and somewhat scripted.

Unlike the
XKR-911-6 series
S2000-Z4-Boxster

The best comparisons to date are by far:
Ford GT-F430-Zonda
M6-AMV8-911S

I didnt feel the presetners were genuinely interested in the TT and RX-8.

Much, much better episode than last week's. Better balance of car reviews, some fun cocking about; overall a better balance. It's getting a lot closer to Top Gear's roots, which is good. Also, I was glad to see the news return (BTW, what's an "undertaker", in motorway terms?)

I got all excited when they mentioned "Veyron" and "track"...and then they mentioned that they couldn't do that and my excitement fell like a skydiver images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

Quote:
I apreciate them including the good old RX-8, but I dont see the point of the golf game and it's clear everyone is playing Devil's advocate with their own car.
That's the wording I was looking for. I felt the same way: I was a bit disappointed at the end of the coupes segment until both Clarkson and Hammond confessed their preference of the Alfa (and the judges' choice of the Alfa being the prettiest wasn't really all that surprising images/smilies/wink.gif), because we all know that Clarkson will choose an Alfa over just about anything and that he thinks the RX-8 is a great car. Hammond's liking of the RX-8 was not surprising, but nor was his true preference for the Alfa.

Quote:
...the veyron bit was a tad short...
It felt to me that they stretched it about as long as they could. I mean, really: see how fast this car goes on a 5+ mile test track, the end. That said, the added introduction, commentary and editing effects were spot on.

My only disappointments were that plugging Grant's film is quite un-Top-Gearish (and sort of annoying) and the lack of the train crash segment due to stupid whining morons images/smilies/thumbdown.gif Hopefully, they'll show it later on.

Quote:

All bark and no bite (laughs at those stupid Caliber ads dubbed over with a V8 soundtrack images/smilies/lol.gif)

Quote:
Due to myself finding it very difficult to decide which one i would buy with my own money.
For me it would be the RX-8 in a heartbeat! Once you've driven RWD, nothing is the same.

P.S.: Thanks Quiky! images/smilies/smile.gif

There is my one criticism of this segment. In the previous ones, i beleive they picked their choice, due to their own interests, in this its like they got stick with them.

Jeremy: "Do your's come with DSG", jeremy doesnt like DSG. We know he loves the RX8 too....

I didnt feel they connected with this segment very well, but yeh, its still nice to see some driving on the show.

I am still downloading the 700MB rip file, judging from the discussions I think JC should have interrupted Hugh Grant from advertising his new movie stuff by asking about his sex life. 8) I never liked movie stars advertising his/her ego while being interviewed on an unrelated show.

Just watched it, and liked it

The Veyron was awesome, sad no lap time, anyone here who has a Veyron?

The Coupe test was great, loved the Brera

My favorite was the news, when they showed the pic ok Hiekki Kovalienen being very "excited" with the new Renualt Clio car

Other inconsistencies:

In the first RX-8 episode, Hammond, has mentionned hed pick the 350Z over the "silly little Wankel."

Jezza is in love with the Brera.

Jezza, refers negatively to the old TT.. ie: "feels like an oversized Audi TT" BUT at least he chose the new TT he likes, the FF, 2L as he has stated in his Times column.

Same thing for not recommending an unreliable car. He said he was going to stop.

As said above, Jezza hates Audi's DSG gearbox, though he thinlks (annoyingly) that its the only one that really works.

I thought the episode was GREAT! The car review was very nice, and very welcome; I thought it was weird how much Clarkson loved the RX8 before last time it was on the show, and seems like he hates it now. The Veyron bit was amazing, and May's commentary made it all that much better. It was also nice to see a star that I actually recognized. I thought the BEST thing about the show was the balance; it had a great balance of cocking about and car reviews, it showed the great chemistry between the three presenters, and I really enjoyed how all of them got a very equal amount of air time and none of them, particularly May, seemed like "the other bloke."

This episode was top notch.

Very good episode...

LORD STIG!

"I've eaten brighter vegetables than he is"

LOL!!!! Good episode, they didn't really need the train crash scene. I think I know why they switch Hugh Grant with Simon Pegg(?). Hugh Grant had a really long interview, it seemed extended and even had a scene from his most recent adventure, it looked a lot like a replacement for the Renault Espace.

Good episode though, really really liked the Art Museum sequence.

I am confused by that episode. The Veyron segment was brilliant, probably one of the best segments of all time, Hugh Grant was allright but kinda not interesting. The news (as always from series 7 to date) felt way to much scripted (even the favorite/least favorite new cars bit). The three cars review was awful, i mean, why do they have to add some useless bits of comedy, rather than just get the cars & test them properly in 5-6 series style. The golf club & the art gallery segments were dreadful & pointless, however, the worst part is, that in 53m episode length, 20 minutes were wasted on that review, which shud've lasted for no more than 7 - 10 minutes (Quick & Informative style).

P.S.

Not a very long time ago some1 posted JC's article here about TG & how they managed to make it successful & so on. In that article Jeremy said, that they combined all the bits of television that ppl like (comedy, guest appearances, reality, filming in studio or on different locations etc.), but since series 7, they inevitably started to run out of ideas & now they're starting to cut corners, by scripting everything & adding bits of humour almost everywhere.

It felt as though something was missing... OH YEAH THE TRAIN SEGMENT.

The Coupe segment was good but felt a bit stretched.

I really hated the golf part. Cocking about needs to be kept in moderation. Its funny when it comes up unexpectedly, but damn near every episode now has the trio acting like children. If there hadn't been so much 'how hard can it be' nonsense I probably would have enjoyed this part. Instead its like, 'oh boy here we go again'.

I liked the Veyron segment. James was great, better yet he took that greatness back into the studio and said more then one sentence. They ought to double his pay to encourage more of this.

Star in a reasonably priced car=for the love of god stop doing this segment.

To the people saying this is the best episode ever, go back and look at season six. Its like were watching a different show these days.

Great episode. The train crash segment would have made it complete.

James' run in the Veyron blew me away. It was fantastic. 'nuff said. The coupe test was good, but not great. Hugh Grant wasn't bad, I enjoyed it, and i'm happy to see the news back.

I wish Simon Pegg was in this episode instead of Grant, but oh well.

I know most people liked it, The Veyron thing was good, but the rest of the episode lacked any sort of normal Top Gear flare. I liked the first one more but hopefully the next one is better
