I have grown to hate the phrase: cocking about; as far as I'm concerned, Top Gear hasn't been "normal" for quite some time now...

Quite as I suspected.

James's Veyron segment was truly epic, an absolute jewel. Nothing more to say to that.

Then it all went slightly donwhill. The coupé-test was very good to begin with, but it just went on and on and on and on....And the golfcourse was just something...well....completely pointless. All the bits where they sat in the cars arguing were the best Top Gear there is, but the golf and Art Gallery just rubbish.

Hugh Grant on the otherhand was actually quite good since he turned out to be a rather funny bloke, I actually enjoyed this one. Rare, I'd say.

And what did I tell you which car they would pick ? The Alfa, of course.

Overall a much better episode than the first one, but still a long way to go and it seems that next sunday we'll be seeing Top Gear doing what they do best: three blokes, three cars, loads of arguing, fighting and challenges.

truly a great ep, I loved it!

James in the Veyron was just gold and not Videography, but but plain pornography. That is maybe as good as editing and filming on a budget(even on a big one) can get, IMO.

I really liked the Coupe Test, and I loved, that they didn't choose the top spec ones, except, I think the Brera on the track might have been the v6 one, because of the 4 exhaust pipes...
I'd choose the Audi for sure, though...

Hugh Grant was mighty entertaining, but I reckon that a dry track on a sunny cold day gives you a bonus second...

I thought it was so strange that they all like the Alfa Brera. I really thought it was a shockingly ugly car. It looks like a Golf GTI in a really complicated suit

I have to put my head in shame, I was online and thought hmmm what's the time Top Gear is on. Damn. When I got tuned in a little late they where just starting the coupe test so I missed the Veyron bit. On the whole for what I watched I was not impressed the golf course and the art gallary just seemed to be an attempt at a funny sketch rather then any possitive talk about the cars they where supposed to be testing. Enjoyable episode yes but lacking.

Still seems like I missed the best bit so time to start a download.

thats within reason i think, its pretty consistent and the conditions wont have been exactly the same and nor would the car of been exactly the same, so to be within 0.2 of the previous time is pretty good.

classic top gear, loved the episode. a great return to form, it was well balanced, cars were the focus for almost the entire show, and the reasonably priced car segment was a pisser. but images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

Not a bad EP but not one of the brilliant ones, except the Veyron bit ofcourse which was pure untainted TG stuff.
The Coupe test was especially disapointing, the golf bit was pretty poor and the gallery part was oh so very boring, even though it made them sweat like beasts. But as a car test it was a shame...
RPC was great though, Hugh was actually funny.

Overall good episode that started brilliantly with James' segment. TG better not get into the habit of promoting their guests' movies unless they want to sell out. Of course, I love the show enough not to be seriously bothered by that. The news segment was absolutely hilarious, and the coupe comparison started well but ended weakly.

This is classic Top Gear, people shouldn't whine so much.

I wonder how the people at Aston Martin must have felt when looking at that bit of interview with Hugh Grant re: his Vanquish.... images/smilies/bangin.gif images/smilies/whistling.gif

Over all a very good episode, just what I expected it to be...

As for Bugatti not lending Top Gear a Veyron for the track, are they hiding something?

In the beginning this was just pointless conspiracy, but now I might think so. Neither do they want to lend one to Sport Auto for their Nordschleife Supertest... Nor did they let EVO have one on test at the Bedford Autodrome. All in all it seems like they are rather reluctant to let the Veyron be measured up against other cars with timig gear on a track doing anything else than going in a dead-straight line, maxing out the top speed.

i thought this ep was great, thought the veyron part was epic (does this mean the veyron is going into production), the coupé part was great, especially the golf jumpers, and the news was good but i've forgotten it already. i don't like Hugh grant, and the brera looks like a hippo. i'd take either of the other two.

just a quick note: shouldn't they make the last corner wider, even the stig goes off there.

Something about the Veyron. Why Bugatti won't let them get it round the TG track? The answer is simple. Because its the fastest car in the world, they are worried that its not gonna be the fastest round the track and therefore beaten by the lightweights (Zonda F, Carrera GT, Enzo, MC12 etc). Shame.

It was ok. I would pick the Audi TT out of those 3. The Alfa is ugly, in my opinion. I wish I owned a Veyron that I could lend to Top Gear. Cant wait till next week!! images/smilies/biggrin.gif
