i think the show, while good, really missed the train crash feature.... that omission unbalanced the show and it felt like they drew out the star in a car and the coupe test as best they could to make up for it.

its a shame, but political correctness is really starting to ruin this "PC and H&S free haven" that is topgear

I doubt removing the segment was anything to do with Top Gear - more a rule from above. However I'm not sure it's too bad a thing that it was removed, I don't think it's a case of PC gone mad but more a case of showing some respect for the people that lost a son.

Good to see the news segment back and in good form. Overall a good episode...but when Jeremy said "and that's the end of the show" I almost felt cheated out of a segment. Granted, that's because of this "missing" train thing...but still.

Oh and did anyone notice that May was being more assertive in this ep versus ANY other? You think he's trying to get the BBC to pay him more money?

My approval rating: 90%
basically there was a fatal crash up in scotland, from what i understand it was pretty much the same thing TG were gonna show. car getting nailed at high speed on a level crossing, everyon in the car died i think. the PC crew deemed it too early to show a feature highlighting the dangers of riskin it for a biscuit on a level crossing and told the producers to axe it.

in hindsight although it would of upset the relatives and friends of those who died, it would of been a good idea to show it to the rest of the UK. those families and friends would of made up a tiny percentage of the viewers...if they even watched at all (id think theyd have more pressing matters the day after a death), and if they did....do they have trouble with the TV off button? i mean seriously this is PC shunning the interests of the majority to appease the minority and it makes me sick becuase it seems to happen all the time in this country.

no it wasnt TG, it was the beeb execs

im sure if i lost a son i'd rather have a popular tv show, show the world why i lost a son so that they dont have to suffer the same hurt as i did.

and its not PC gone mad....... that happened along time ago. this is normal behaviour now

When Holby Shitty had an episode around a train crash or something like that and a week before a lot of people died in a similar way to the Holby City episode people called for the Beeb to not show Holby.

They showed it and the complaints flooded in saying it was inconsiderate, too early and it should have been delayed and shown later.

People haven't said it SHOULDN'T be shown, just that as a mark of respect to people that lost children it should be delayed and shown at a later date.

i hate complainers...

thats why nothing gets done in this country......too many people get off on complaining. wankers. why cant people just turn the telly off so they dont have to endure something that might upset them? it baffles me. are they being held at gun point or something? seriously.

also i love the veyron film..... especially when it all goes quiet at 407km/h....that works so fucking well

i liked the ep a lot.,...

and i was sure they'd have chosen the alfa. come on!
and they gave the cars to the respective presenter just because it...uhmmm... "felt right": james may, the aesthetics-lover, in the truly wonderful looking alfa; the hamster, the youngest and sportiest, in the muscular rx-8 and jeremy in the fastest and most spot-on audi. it just felt right.

and, even if it is clear that it's the slowest, they still preferred the brera above the others... truly magic.

I wonder about that. Lotus designed the course, and because of that it seems only the VX220 and Elise can make it round with ease. No wonder Bugatti won't lend them a car.

James May in the Veyron was brilliant. The cinematography in every TG segment is absolutely beautiful, but the Veyron segment was even more so.

For me, the best part of the coupe review was watching Richard Hammond stutter and stammer about oriental art in front of the art experts! I was almost rolling on the floor laughing. Same with Clarkson comparing his trousers to Bauhaus.images/smilies/lol.gif

I wonder if we could take some similar super close-up shots from the Bugatti race, as Jeremy pointed out in his TG monthly column that the BBC had the Stig drive back to Italy for the shots.

The Bugatti bit was wonderful but I still want it to go round the track, Bugatti shouldn't be afraid that it would be slower than the other cars. I've read a comparison test between the veyron and enzo, and the bugatti was better in the corners. tt vs brera vs rx-8 was good. It was better than season 8 images/smilies/smile.gif

Yes the Veyron was driven back to Italy by the Stig accompanied by a TG filming crew. most of the exterior passing shots shown in the Bugatti race were shot on the drive back to Italy with the Stig driving. The Stig took three days to reach Italy. You can read about it on http://www.bbc.co.uk/topgear/show/pr...s/veyron.shtml.

Jeremy has mentioned the same in a column he writes for the Times.

So you think they are using material they shot when the Stig drove the Veyron back from England... like, ages ago? I guess it's possible.

Anyway, here are the best frames of what might be the Stig:
