Nweibley, sorry if I offended. I did not mean all those in the Deep South are evil people bent on killing. Just that there is plenty of room for both good and bad people to live in the South and anywhere else for that matter in the US. I recommend people look at a map of the US, it is big and full of habitable space; there is plenty of room for a large diversity of people.

I do agree. How will the Yanks react to this one? I'm sure something to do with 'States have different laws' will come up. But think, in the UK, and maybe most places in the world, we would just give them a sigh or if the worst comes to the worst, shout at them. And the fact that the Americans will sue anything; Jeremy threatened to be sued for giving an older car away than said. How self mannered must you be if you want exactly what you are told you will be given - for free? Fine, if it were said to be a Camaro and turned out to be a Camaro without wheels, or an engine, or doors etc, then maybe.

I truly think America is a great country; just look at the Grand Canyon. But unfortunately the large majority of Americans ruin it all. They just got lucky in where they were placed by nature.

Hoo, boy do we look bad in that episode, note to Brits, 99.9% of America is not like that. If those three pulled into a gas station in my town, someone would recognize them, call their friends and instead of being descended on my rednecks, they would be descended on by fans.

I think the only part where I wasn't laughing was the gas station "incident". But those people probably thought they were on the recieving end of a joke, and didn't take it well.

I enjoyed the episode. I love the "Borat-like" approach it had to it.

As far as people being offended: I live in America, but I wasn't born here, so the bashing is fine by me. I can definitely see how people born here could be offended though. And while all of America isn't as hostile as Alabama, it is very unfriendly towards anyone that doesn't know the language, speaks with a different accent, looks different etc ... learned this the hard way.

I did find it quite amusing when Jezza said something to the effect of "We've now crossed America..." and I thought oh boy, he's been from Miami to New Orleans and he thinks he's crossed America... what a bad sign.

Oh yeah...New Orleans still looks like that for a reason. #1, they went to a slum, populated by people who didn't give a grap then, and don't now. #2, half the city is abandoned. The area where people DO give a crap have been rebuilt.

Correct, the population is about 500,000 less than it was pre-Katrina. There's just no one around to live in the destroyed areas. So why rebuild them?

That was great, being from Alabama myself the redneck part was the best. I hate to say it but down where they were you could probably find some people like they showed. Just be glad they didn't go to Red Bay, or we would never see them again.

#1) One thing to remember is that this is just a TV show. It's sensationalized to attract an audience.

#2) I think many people don't quite understand how large the USA is (physically). The distance from Bangor, Maine to San Diego, California is about the same distance as London, England to Tehran, Iran. Are you gonna suggest there's not a HUGE variety of people, religions, lifestyles and cultures in that span?

I don't have a real problem with the TG boys slamming on the US and don't see a real possibility for hurt feelings having an impact.

If you're watching in the states you've had to go to some amount of effort to do so and are probably already a fan and take it with a grain of salt.

I've been the fan series of Top Gear of a long time but this episode was so great that I had to register just to say GO TOP GEAR!

Seriously though, I think this was one of the best episodes ever.

It's like Top Gear is on the edge of being not just a car enthusiast show, but also comedy/film... thing.

thats the problem i think, they need to get away from the slapstick and go back to doing what they originally were created to do. which is review cars.
