Am I the only one who was offended by the cheap-shot stereotype nature of the show?

The names for the winter olympics was Bjorn for everyone I think images/smilies/lol.gif
Wonder if they needed the Camaro specialist for the lawyer?! Although that was in New orleans, but there wasn't any problems with the Camaro in Miami that they showed

I actually had tears streaming down my face. This was the best episode yet, and surprisingly moving. I was touched at the genuine camaraderie, and feeling between the chaps.
I hope our American friends aren't offended, and if they are, perhaps they could put their energies into fencing off Alabama & those 'humans' featured, then set to make Bush rebuild New Orleans, instead of blowing up the rest of the world. You'd have most of the UK behind you, especially after what we just witnessed. Scary stuff.
In short, this was more entertaining, pulse racing, funny, special, enjoyable, moving etc... than anything I have seen on television in a very long time. More fun infact, than Gumball. I wish it could be an annual event.
Oh, and OMG! Did you see Jeremy & his sexy behind, wet, shower, gorgeous, thuddilicious, YUM! It will take me a while to recover....

The "large majority" of Americans ruin it? Do you even have a clue? I'm surprised to such an ignorant and idiotic thing said on this board to be honest.

I'm an American, and I haven't seen the episode yet, but I would be horified if people judge the majority of Americans based on "people" they meet in the podunk South. If you want to meet a REAL average American, go to the West Coast, Mid West, or North East. I'm sure most every country has their small pockets of freaks. Sounds like TG went out of their way to find ours...congratulations.

Can't wait to see the episode though...

I've just started watching the episode for a second time and it keeps getting better. The friendship between the three of them really is enough to bring tears to your eyes. This is perfect television, funny, dramatic, funny, charming, warm, funny and just touching.

The slogans were perfect, the cars fit brilliantly and really felt like they were part of the team - a brilliantly unscripted piece of cocking about with cars - something Top Gear does better than anything else in the world.

The ending was perfect, I couldn't think of a better way to end the episode. Yes there were elements some overly sensitive Americans might find offensives but who gives a shit - it's a British show for a British audience and so far we seem to have found it funny images/smilies/smile.gif

If the ratings aren't through the roof for tonight's episode then as word of mouth generates the Wednesday repeat will be even higher.

I don't think that's quite fair. As someone who has traveled from one end of this place to the other, I can assure you that what you see in your media isn't a proper representation. The 'large majority' is willing to buy you a beer and chat for a while.

Come for a visit, but stay the f*ck outta Alabama. Nobody with any sense goes there. images/smilies/lol.gif

It really depends on where you are. The big cities like Atlanta, Athens, Houston, Miami, Charleston, etc. are no different from the rest of the country. THe people there just speak differently. Just stay out of the rural areas images/smilies/wink.gif

fan-fucking-tastic, Beats the supercars episode by far. The shower thing - ingenious. Loved the midnight raid on may's car, the dodge-y thing, the whole cars themselves.... I want a camaro now.... although maybe with a proper engine... and some windscreen wipers. nothing flat till the end. Nice touch at the end with the giving the cars away, although nice tightfistedness at the end

Those guys at the petrol station were crazy, why the hell did she call people up - she doesn't like people buying her petrol or something?

And seriously.... where the fuck did the cow come from?

(I want that film on DVD, xvid's not good enough for it)

You aren't going to like the episode much then. There are quite a lot of generalisation/stereotype comments in itimages/smilies/wacko.gif But hell i loved it images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Andy Wilman if you are reading this topic, you and your production team have just made the best one hour of Television in the history of television, it was fan-bloody-tastic! Not that the rest of Top Gear isn't the best TV in the world anyway. Every person i'm speaking to on other forums and MSN and that think the same, legendary!

Weird actually, a couple of days back i watched the first of the new series episodes. Who'd have thought watching that what it would eventually become.

I am sure we all know that not ALL Americans are the sorts we witnessed on this TG special, but it beggers belief that a developed country would allow their citizens - from any area - to behave in this way. Freedom of speech, unless we don't like what you're saying... Yikes...

Well Jezzabelle u hit the nail on the head there. Pretty much whats happening in the UK as well these days with 'freedom of speech' as long as its PC. Shame that

Still once again brilliant episode, funny, emotional, scary and 'big stig'. I mean i know the american fans are probably gonna go ape shit at this episode, but c'mon its still funny.

Seriously the cow?

Having not watched the show yet, but being American, I actually can't wait to see what happens. However, the matter of fact is, Alabama is NOT the place to go vacationing. I might be stereotyping, but I dislike the southern accent. It irritates me because it is hard to understand and sounds of "lower class" status.

Sunny California, New York, or even Florida would be even better.

When Europeans visit America, they realize that everything is dirt cheap. When we go over, the money conversion rates will eat our money. A quid is basically $2 USD. It was only $1.64 barely a year ago!

Don't be. images/smilies/wink.gif

I was in Miami/Florida for two weeks before Christmas and can honestly say that I felt no more uneasy there than I did when I used to live in London.
