In the hope this doesn't get me banned....

Anyone with access to post stuff on the frontpage might want to link to the FOV rip. I kept checking on the main page till I checked mininova and there it was from an hour ago.

Great episode imo btw.

What I wanna know is, what was that bit about pregnant ladies being able to pee in police hats. I knew we had some weird laws but if that's true then wtf

Maybe I am being paranoid, but if you look at the launch you'll see the rockets 'fade' and eventually stop firing, because they run out of fuel. So in that sense there's no way it could explode, since it doesn't contain any fuel anymore. Next to the fact that a lot of things on TG are not quite in par with reality regarding explosions (can't think of any examples right now, but I might see if I can conjure op some soon), makes for reasonable doubt.

I don't wanna take the fun out of this episode, because I thought it was awesome. But I couldn't help noticing.

Default Proper Job

Can't do the accent, but the Barley Pickers on Scrapheap Challenge, catch phrase "Proper Job" is blooody appropriate way to describe the "Top Gear Robin Reliant Space Transport System" (TGRRSTS).images/smilies/tvhappy.gif images/smilies/blowup.gif

Let's be honest - Tonight's episode would've had a hard time living up to last week's episode, but as usual 'tis a great episode to watch.

I'll put myself in the Clarkson camp - I remember hearing about it and thinking they'd never be able to do it. That's why I was cheering in my uni's union (same with a few other students) as it went up and then feeling my heart sink as it descended to the explosion.

I think it was a case that it was a lot of work for everyone involved, and to get so far and then have something as small as a bolt not disconnecting scrap the challenge was a heartbreak.

I think you're both being too paranoid here, and you've probably missed the following detail: there were some extra small rockets attached to the Reliant Robin shuttle part which the remote control shuttle pilot was supposed to be able use if necessary while trying to bring the shuttle down gently. Since they never got that far because the shuttle wouldn't separate from the main rocket, there was still quite some unburnt rocket fuel left in that robin when it hit the ground. Or in other words: there was no way for there not being an explosion when it hit UK soil as it did.

It was so close!

Great episode but they really need to fix Star in a Car now that they're plugging everyone.

^Don't really mind the plugging, especially not when it's a entertaining person like Simon Pegg!

I enjoyed every bit of this episode! This and the US episode is the best of this season, and among the best ever.

The news this week was hilarious as well!

FAN-tastic episode!!

I loved the whole segment of the launch! Cant believe they actually did it and it rose SO frigginn high!

Only wish they lapped the 911 turbo to really compare it to the F430, but i guess the buyer will buy it, as hammond pointed out, out of passion and not out of TG laptime.

Anyone else thought James' hair looked like it was done?

Now that was an all out proper Top Gear! images/smilies/smile.gif Easily, by far and away the best in series 9. This should set the benchmark for Top Gear in the future: at least two separate reviews, some Stig driving, news, cool wall, great guest and a bit of car-or-engineering-related (that emphasis is important) cocking about.

Overall: great reviews of the 911 Turbo and the Brabus Roadster, the news was snappy and full of personality sparks, Top Gear Dog made another appearance (so, now we know that he's not entirely useless images/smilies/wink.gif), Simon Pegg was hilarious and entertaining, they finally did the cool wall again, and the rocket...the rocket -- just, WOW! I was completely astonished and amazed at how it took off, it was just breathtaking! It's too bad the tank didn't break loose like it was supposed to, and the crash was bit depressing...nah, forget that, it was entertaining images/smilies/lol.gif What guy doesn't love seeing huge explosions? images/smilies/biggrin.gif It was also better that Clarkson wasn't involved, IMO. Otherwise, they would have spent the whole time making scripted arguments while everyone else got the work done. OK, so May and Hammond really didn't do a whole lot, but at least they made it look like they were trying.

As for the plug, I was just fine with it. I think the reason last week's plug was so un-Top-Gearish was because it was a really lame romantic fluff movie and that's just not Top Gear's style. This week's was much better, they plugged it because genuinely liked it. I felt it was the same way they plugged Steve Coogan (Alan Partridge).

The Brabus Roadster (the car, not the review) seems spectacularly bad. Even before Clarkson mentioned all of the problems, I could tell by the way it held it self (or didn't) in the corners, there was something very wrong with it.

The Brabus looks properly mean in that color and wheels.

And my favorite bit is when the brake lights of the car start flashing when Clarkson's doing the hard braking. It got ratified apparently. images/smilies/smile.gif

I loved every single part of this weeks show. Nice to see a proper review somewhere else than on the runway. They should pit the regular SL65 against the Brabus on the track...

Very very very good episode - having a lengthy news read is always enjoyable.

I'm just glad to see I wasn't the only one who was most excited about Top Gear Dog then anything else on the episode.

Being from Australia the plugs help alot, as most of the stars are from the UK its somtimes gets bit boring cause i dont know who they are.....i must say this is like the top gear of old and it was fantastic.

I just could not believe how well that rocket lifted off. And kept flying straight with the boosters, that was unbelievable, almost looked like CG at first. Brabus review was okay I love the 911 review and the rocket bit.

Loved the episode! 911 turbo is a fabulous car, news was really funny, I was glad to see the cool wall again and the rocket film was really astonishing. I was amazed to see it actually taking off, and even though the Robin didn't make it back in one piece, it was still very entertaining. Also glad to see Top Gear dog again!
