So happy to see it, I loved the part where everyone was swearing at each other. That I will say was almost as good as the Supercars through France. Great new start to a Season that has to beat season 7, for my quote to not make me look like a knob.

I think I will be the first one to say that I expected something else. I love cars. I can watch and read technical data for hours and not get bored. When I first saw TG, it brought the comedy and cars into one. I instantly loved it. Every season, they were getting better. 7 then 8 and then 9. However I hope the are not lost in what they re doing because the first episode of 10 series showed that. I can watch TG in any format, I love this show. But what impresses me even more is the potential hidden in it. I live in the US right now and I have converted "anti-car" people, friends, family to love TG. They love it and do not even care about the cars. Once a week we meet up with beer and watch a great episode. Boys, girls it doesnt matter, they all love it. However this episode was some kind of fake. They tried to be funny, but not to cock about to much, and tried to be serious but not 5 gear style. I loved the 9 season and I think the humor from it should be back. Yes, James naked, was brilliant, but Jeremy running out of fuel wasnt funny at all and just show that they are running out of imagination. I'm beeing harsh because I know that TG crew can do it. They can make a 50 million viewers show that everyone will love with no sacrifices for any sides. I will support them but they can not be afraid to take risks!! Fans are with u guys so go over the top and do it. Not like Porsche building cayman, go for it make the show even better then 911 RS GT3!!!!

those who have watched a lot of top gear will instantly recognize a lot of the background music/soundtrack are recycled, and that's fine by me as long as it fits for that scene. In addition, that piano track at the end of the "finding greatest driving road" segment fitted in so perfectly. It's so typical to add in a fast/upbeat tune to go along with the supercars, but TG has nailed it perfectly with thought.

This episode wasn't that funny, but the cars they reviewed are pure TG bloodline and I welcome that greatly. Testing the Golf W12 is nice, and my god, the GT3 RS, and Superleggera....

And finally, the panning shots and filming of the Swiss and Italian roads....as someone has previously mentioned, they really make Fifth Gear look very amateur-ish.

I wish I can take my 335i there...

What does "knob" mean to the British?

That was a damn good episode.

Default "No Cars Go"

Did anybody notice, but the sound under the preview montage sound like "No Cars Go" by The Arcade Fire?

I downloaded my copy (750mb) in 40 mins.

The star was terrible. Need to bring back JK and the other top runners. Or racing drivers or someone who isn't old and lame. Maybe Jeff Gordan lol. That would be funny.

Besides that the episode was awesome. But that star in a reasonably priced car was terrible. I wanted to skip through it. And she had no idea about Jeremy owning the Lambo. People who don't care about cars or the show shouldn't be on it.

I felt kind of bad for James, he gets bossed around hardcore by the other two, even more so in this episode.

That said, what a brilliant episode! Less humor and mucking about to be sure, but the roads segment was absolutely inspired. The whole time, though, I was trying to imagine how brilliant that film would have looked in HD, with the beautiful panning shots of the scenery and everything. Seriously, probably one of the best driving bits put to film, ever.

I could see them using that for the HDTV promo videos... good photography, and the HD resolution would really make the cars pop.

Excellent stuff! Loved every minute of it.

The NEXT FinalGear collection has to be to get them some decent seats!

How about those they made that time from an old 928, or something similar. I'm sure we could get some dosh (dough for our American contributors) together to get this sorted. Maybe have them recovered to match their personalities, maybe something in corduroy?images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Amazing. I had very high expectations (who didn't?) ... and I wasn't disappointed! Yes the Golf and Star bits were useless ... but unlike Fifth Gear, it's not about the cars, it's about the fun one can have driving. If that didn't make you want to fly to Italy to drive those roads ... something's wrong! images/smilies/biggrin.gif

Errm, "knob" is a colloquial term for what I guess you would call a "dick".

There are many more UK-only slang words for this peculiar part of the male anatomy, and I'm sure some of our members (fnaar, fnaar) would be more than happy to explain!images/smilies/lol.gif

I figured as much, just wasn't sure. I remember Hammond saying something in the last series like "There's only one knob in the car, well except for the one driving it."

Those crazy British.. images/smilies/lol.gif

Brilliant episode indeed! How the romanticized the pleasure of driving on open roads without traffic...speechless. That's the only thing I'd do every weekend, hope into Z4M, Gayman, or N24 (haha jk) and just go have a blast on these roads. Phenomenal really.

As for the funny factor, the news bit on "multitasking" was very very amusing. Props to everybody at Top Gear for going back to reviewing cars, poking fun at each other, and involving emotion into it as well. Superb!
