As for the show, there was so much stuff in it. I'd like to see more episodes with this many different segments. I had expected the "origin of the control system" to be boring, but they made it entertaining as you'd expect from Top Gear. James Blunt... Dull personality. You know who his voice reminded me of? In Vanishing Point, Kowolski picks up these two gays, you know, the "why are you laughing, is it because you think we're queers?" guy. That is James Blunts voice to a T. Lewis has terrible taste in cars (and rim sizes, and engines...), but his lap was absolutely admirable. I didn't think he'd get anywhere near that on a wet track, I predicted he'd be .1 or .2 behind the Stig if it was dry. Hammond in the F1 really made you appreciate how difficult they'd be to drive, you often get to thinking they wouldn't be that hard, but there's a motoring presenter that has driven hundreds of supercars on dozens of tracks, and he couldn't even get it going. Probably the best, and if not joint best episode this series.

I gave the episode a 7. It was quite good, but I honestly couldn't care less about Hamilton or F1 and there wasn't anything really "awesome" about the episode. It was just "good".
Next week will be much better.

Hammond's F1 segment was probably shot at least a year ago, just before he had the accident. The Renault F1 Team in the show still had the Mild Seven livery!

Got to agree with you on that one 7 it is, it was good but nothing amazing like last week or a the week before. It seemed very fragmented with no real theme to it jumping into the news what seemed very quickly.

I didnt think the episode was that great, at all in fact. Hamster's f1 was boring, yes its a hard car to drive, w/e. This is also the 9th time they have the VXR8 or some form of it on the track. We get it, its a great car, costs half the price and yet Jeremy obviously wouldnt pick it because its australian.
The bmw as cool but slow, however the old car segment was quite sharp. 5/10, imbo |

clarkson askin hamilton if he had pubes yet was worth 10/10 all on its own
good show, very good show even though it kinda felt like it was put together with the scraps out of the video bin, it did feel a little disjointed, but it was still soo good to watch. it felt really random with the looking at really old cars then hopping into an F1 car with hammond. hamiltons time was just epic, didnt even look like he was trying... that lads definately got the natural ability to drive like a god, its not just the mclaren being a wicked car. best of luck to hm next year, but im still a kimi fan! like others have said, was quite an informative episode with the where the present day pedal layout came from and how someone nicked it and reproduced its greatness for the masses. it definately felt right with JC and May doing the segment, the both share that passion for engineering and its great to see.... although may does get a bit too in depth lol clarksons crap aussie accent for the VXR8 lap was funny, he failed to mention it was as quick as a 911 turbo round the track at 1.31 right? or did my eyes decieve me? I'm confused how noone's mentioned the news, which was good PROPER automotive news. I laughed so hard at the middle east joke, my throat hurt for half an hour!

I must admit, he was probably by far the best guest they've ever had.

Very good episode overall, with the VXR8 being the lowpoint, simply because it somehow felt half-assed. Maybe i wasn't paying enough attention but i can't remember anything about the car, i like hearing the presenters emotions towards the cars and their rediculous commentary, i don't recall much any of that, except for the Australianized track laptime
![]() Otherwise i like it, the old car segment was pretty funny, and i think the F1 deal was pretty cool! I just wished they'd try to harder with the car reviews, either that or have the editing leave more of the funny dialog in, because both James and Jeremy have been writing top notch articles as of late, so i have no idea whats going on with the show. |

I had never expected James Blunt to be interesting, funny, or self-deprecating, so this episode completely staggered me. I get the feeling that he takes his songs about as seriously as the average drunk karaoke goer, and I shall lift a note in his honor next time I do it. Rest of the episode was just as awesome, especially the fake Aussie accent and the trip down museum lane. I wonder if the old cars they drove were the actual pieces or just replicas (the Benz wagen was probably a replica)... those old pieces are incredibly rare to be handed over to a pair of middle-aged journalists.

I have to say Clarkson and May are not just a pair of middle-aged journalists, they are practically global icons, and car show Gods.

I have to agree with the others, fastest hour on television. F1 fast. It just screamed past with so much content. In fact, all the episodes this season seem to be a little cramped. I suspect they have a tonne of footage still left from the abbreviated Season 9. Then throw in the SITRPC (one of the best ever), the news segment, classic car, the robotic BMW and the Australian review. It was over nearly before it began.
Loved Hammond's F1 driving segments, it gave me a real sense of just how powerful and fast those machines are and contrasted perfectly with Jeremy's interview of Hamilton. Lewis is the Tiger Woods of racing, young, engaging, composed, well spoken and immensely talented. Despite the frenetic pacing that left me breathless, 10/10. Hamilron's time in the wet and oily was a bit epic. Stig, for all his driving excellence needs an upgrade to cope with the new fella
Hat's off to both of them. The BMW bot round Dunsfold track was impressive. Scarey May make driving to work a little earier
