8/10. The endurance racing segments were pretty epic but using music from the video game Command and Conquer 3 really ripped out the soul of it for me. A good 1/3 of how much I enjoy Top Gear is down to their esoteric and usually gorgeous music selections.

I gave it a 5/10.
The good: Fiat 500, Brit Car
The bad: Everything else IMO

I dont really care about Ascari, they are ugly cars IMO.

The Britcar race was EPIC! Loved the whole thing. I really hope I can do a race like that some day. Is there anything special in the suit or car for pissing in it? Or did they really just piss themselves and make a mess of it all? Although I guess you could hold it three hours, if its common not to, you'd expect them to at least wear some "diapers" or some sort of apparatus for that.

The Fiat 500 was good, but a bit dull and uninformative. The old 207 review was much better, this one didn't even seem to show how the car handled. And why would they even bother with the diesel one for a test like that? I'm not real impressed with the 500 anyway, I'd rather have the Panda, but we can't get that here.

The SIRPC was decent, but the guy seemed like a dick. I didn't take off points for it like others though.images/smilies/rolleyes.gif

The A10 was just sick. I think if I'm ever going to get a Noble, I'll have to consider this. Anyone else notice the Daihatsu was actually a Scion xB? Was hoping to hear a little bit more about it, though next to the A10, I don't care much. You guys really get that car with a shitty badge there, if Toyota had Scion there too I think it could really sell. But who would buy it when you call it a Daihatsu?

Martyn- Were you part of the race, or a spectator? Really be cool to hear any details you have to share, the pics were great!

That was a cool ep. A new lap record by the Ascari, the Fiat 500, and the race! The race started out pretty slow though, but when they get to racing it was cool. It's nice to see them doing a challenge so seriously. As it is, it's better than when Tiff did the 24hr race for Fifth Gear, just because it's a more complete coverage of the race. But racing wise it's no question, Tiff is miles ahead, and they finished higher IIRC. But still, very good ep.

I just watched the episode again and a segment during the night made me wonder - was the Stig really driving with his helmet visor through the night??? How could he see anything if he really was?

I think it was a good episode, but nothing amazing. Great viewing of course but nothing made me go "oh my god!!".

Britcar segment was great, never really got boring, I would have liked to have seen more of the car building process. Racing mechanics are some of the most superhuman people on earth, so much respect for them. Working all hours of the night and day with little thanks.

The Ascari is a pretty awesome machine, but for Carrera GT money I think I would still take the Porsche. Given the lap time its a performance bargain really. Although the Caparo is significantly cheaper. Pretty cool review though.

Fiat 500 was a big disappointment. A car like that needs a proper review, something Top Gear are still very reluctant to do. These races can still be great car reviews, remember the Ford StreetKa against the pigeons. This one wasn't though.

SIARPC, had no idea who Keith Allen was, but he was pretty funny. Would have liked to have seen a longer interview with him, felt very rushed. Obviously he is Lily Allen's dad, if they have her on I will be having sex with my television.

very good episode, britcar 24h was the best part, they had lot of technical problems.
Endurance racing can be addictive,i drove 2 hours in one race (and i was rubbish) and one of my friends had (very)low-budget endurance-racing team couple of years ago, but it ended when they didnt had any money any more (suprise..)

I really liked the Brit Car segment. I really got into it because it was easy to tell that they themselves were really getting into it. It was funny how they started it the same way they start all the segments; By hamming it up for the cameras and making a lot of stupid sight gags and generally not taking it very seriously. Then when they got to the track and saw the rest of the field they realised they would have to start taking it seriously! For me, that was the point where that segment really picked up and from then on in was really good. It's a shame Hammond ruined everything by stuffing the car into that Mosler. images/smilies/tongue.gif

The rest was really bad. James review of the 500 was just rubbish. It was easily one the worst reviews Top Gear have ever done.

The Ascari review was just as bad, actually. Clarkson is such a pathetic old hack now.

I was kinda glad there was no news segment this week because I think the news is pretty unfunny most of the time and just drags on and on.

I skipped the SIARPC segment.

If it weren't for the Brit Car segment I would have given this episode a 1... and that only would have been because I can't give it a 0.

So the Brit Car segment alone lifted the rest of the episode up to a 6! Hooray for the Brit Car segment!

I liked the ascari test and the 24hr race alot, but the rest of the show was only so-so. Still I gave it a 9 because the excellence of the endurance race segments made up for the rest of the show. I didn't even watch the SIARPC part though.

The Daihatsu is basically the same car as an XB. It looked small next to the Ascari, so I thought it was too small to be based on the XB, but I was wrong. I guess the Ascari is just big.

Seemed like a very short episode.

Except the Ascari, that segment seemed to drag on. Cool car, funny intro, but it was the same old thing. Didn't help that it was the same car from Clarkson's DVD, only this time the test was shorter, more boring, and more dull.

I was disappointed by the Fiat 500 review. It seemed too rehashed. Only this time it was worse then the first few times they did it. I would have preferred seeing it drive around the countryside and back in the villages and cities, FifthGear style, then the same old TG race, with staged stunts, timed shots, and a narrow defeat. It's gotten old.

The BritCar race was awesome though. But too short. If you censored every reference to the race being 24 hours long, you could probably convince most people that the race was really just your standard 1-2 hour affair. It seemed way to cut down. They probably could have done a two part mega special on it, but opted for... what, 15-20 minute segment? Too short.

8/10

Finally came round to watch it yesterday. It's a truly brilliant Episode. But only because of the Britcar Segment, which not only rescued it from being a rubbish ep, but even made it a great one.

Pros : 1. Britcar
2. Stig

This should really have gone - as was said a couple times - into a special. It was way too much cut out for time reasons.
The Stig has been given more footage than just his laps lately (The london race, this time) and some comical moments (Hamilton photo in the newspaper, Stiggy falling asleep in the drivers briefing). And this seems to be the way to go. Gimme more Stig images/smilies/mrgreen.gif

Cons : 1. SIARPC
2. Missing News

Ok, me being German, I don't happen to know most of them, but apart from very rare occurences this seems to be the most skipped over part of the show. Maybe I'm slaughtering a holy cow, but I would drop it from the show altogether. The really interesting people have been in the car already. It's just run out of truly interesting stars really and I don't see the point in going on with it images/smilies/mellow.gif
The missing News was a bad idea. Once the Ferrari was crashed they should've dropped the whole segment for more britcar or the news instead of hurriedly cobbling together the Ascari Review.

my 2 cents images/smilies/smile.gif

really liked this episode, the race was great, and i can't believe they got away with those sponsors images/smilies/lol.gif

it was a shame that Richard had that accident and they had fuel problems, but it wouldn't be a TG race unless something went wring would it images/smilies/wink.gif

i liked the C&C3 music, i only noticed when i watched it through a second time.

very good show IMO images/smilies/smile.gif

People seem to think that because Jezza mentioned the Ferrari being filmed it was going to be in this series. WRONG!!!! You think they film everything in the week before going to air??? The F430 Scuderia would have been being filmed for NEXT season.

^It was on all the listings that this episode was going to feature the F430 Scuderia.

Anyway, I've just watched the rip and I've found myself one TV! Hurray!
