I have watched it twice, I'd still give it a nine.

I am an Australian, can someone explain these, please.

Dave. The origin of the 'rossers' as this has been used many times by May. Richard Hammond's comment about 'blues and twos'.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsuoka_Orochi

I would like one of these.

On "Blues and Twos", From wikipedia:
The origin of the phrase comes from the fact the lights are blue and the siren previously was a two-tone horn, although now most emergency services use a gradated siren.

Not sure on rossers. I think that it might some be something like:

Police car (which looks like a) raspberry jam sandwich (shortened to) raspberry jam (shortened to) rassers (and ultimately) rossers. But I'm guessing.

The actual question is... Where has the koeningsegg sign gone?? My curiosity is over the top right now.

Also, why do you guys even watch SIARPC, I always skip that part. I might have seen one or two ones.

You watch them cos many are really funny, since many of the guests are comedians, and that talk is generally entertaining

Some of them are very entertaining (Gambon & James Blunt spring to mind) but a lot of the time it just brings down the pace of the show. I always ffwd through them on second viewing.

I think that if this episode is an indicator of all future TG episodes, they definitely need to step it up a notch. I realize that they are all becoming old men, but there really needs to be less car porn for just car porns sake. The supercar economy segment was sort of okay, as was most everything else in the show, excluding SIARPC, which was awful, and the police video, which was pretty good. Overall though, the hour lacked the tire squealing, earth killing, booze swilling, drug using, sex, violence, murder, and mayhem that we all associate with Top Gear.

The stuntman setup, while it obviously took a long time to construct, came off as being much too synthetic and severely lacking in carnage. It was even less entertaining than the bus jump, or the limo jump that we saw in series past. While I really enjoyed seeing all the supercars together for the fuel economy bit, with petrol costing what it does now, it seemed a bit out of place. The F 430 Scuderia was a tepid review that could have been served up with a lot more spice, the kind we all know Jeremy is capable of.

Clarkson is supposed to be one of the toughest interviewers in the business, he really should be pitted against celebrities who are known for having a tough attitude, being demanding, and dishing it out. The really big name stars have been very interesting to see, and it really adds something to the show, despite the notion on this board that SIARPC should be axed. SIARPC has had some very good and interesting interviews, and is a dynamic component of the show.

D+ for effort, but judging from past episodes, I think it can come a long way.

TV Channel on Freeview showing Top Gear repeats pretty much wall to wall.

Wikipedia says "To Rozz" was East End slang for "To roast", and the cops would "roast" any criminals in the area. Seems pretty reasonable.

Rozzers is standard British slang to the point that were you to drive James' car around in the UK people would know it was meant to be the police.

'Crims' on the other hand isn't quite so widely used which added a certain charm.

Exactly. I agree 100%. images/smilies/smile.gif

Erm...Trying to think of something which hasn't been said. Anyway, I'll be looking forward to the rest of the series.

It's getting pretty old when Clarkson starts out a review listing every bad thing about a car and then decides at the end that it's "brilliant."

I watched this ep for the Scuderia and expected more than that...

For Soft Southern Shandy Drinkers like James then Rozzers is standard slang. Oop North we tend to use "filth". In Liverpool it is "the bizzies".

What happened to Top Gear???

I've seen every episode of every series of TG and i must conclude that this new series is a HUGE Let Down for Me...

For me, the ultimate choice between TG and FG was the fact that i would always want to watch TG episode over again. Some of them i've seen at least 10 times. There is always something special about them, that the flat FG clips don't seem to deliver.

After watching this episode i felt bewildered...

- Show began weird, and supercar clips as well as the prius seemed boring to me.

- The new stuntman is such a BORE, i mean couldn't they make him, a GIRL and put a Stigs outfit on, to give at least some kind of suspense and excitement as to who is that girl crashing. I can't believe this stuntman idea ever got through on our TV screens...

- Guests... Ugh c'mon how do you open a show with such lousy guests, where one of them could clearly care less about cars. You had six months... Couldn't you book a guest that is similarly interesting as ones who appeared in last season of the show???

- Ferrari episode, felt poorly edited. I remember old 430 review - it was much better than this one, even though on paper this review should have been more exciting, and yet it just wasn't.

- The news missed the original level of humor and jokes, seen in past 4 series.

- The police bit, was funny. But then again this was no Caravan Trip, it just felt abrupt.

Looking at the montage of the coming season, things look great. The key word there obviously is that its just a montage. Perhaps because this season is only 6 episodes, that's what we have to live with, packed shows where nothing will be explored to the level that we'd all like.

These are just some of my thoughts...
I really hope TG does a better job on the 2nd episode...

I think it's pretty much summed up by most forum people by now, opener showed some nice shots but I'd hope they have more than they showed, fuel bits were "ok" but could have been made a bit more interesting, guests are 10 minutes of wasted video, the stunt might have been ok if they had snazzed it up a bit with Hammond and some challenge or something, Ferrari was "ok" as a car, review took too long to say nothing much that wasn't said about the stripped out porsche etc.
The Police bit, that's the kind of stuff that attracts a lot of viewers, bit of hooliganism and fun which no one does better than this lot (mark my words, the US or Aus shows will be a lot more "I'm funny, laugh at me" rather then the ideal mix of the UK trio making slapstick fun at each other) and as long as they keep at least one of these every second show they'll do just fine.

I for one can't wait for the Nissan Skyline images/smilies/smile.gif

Best SIARPC for me was Jimmy Carr, I actually re-watch that episode purely for his segment. Also, I want to see John Cleese as a guest

That was pretty dull by their standards. The pieces about fuel saving was typical Top Gear which I have no problem with and a bit of mild entertainment. Then came the sleep inducing Scuderia review which just dragged on and on. Tobias is right in that you could see the conclusion a mile away. Same old formula Clarkson, time for something else. There was something about the editing which irked me, and Clarkson's script was pretty lacklustre. The stunt segment was a bit 'ho hum' and did nothing for me. What was next...oh, SIARPC, what a total waste of time. I skipped through that, which left the police car segment. It was amusing but one feels they're really scraping the bottom of the barrel for ideas now.

5/10. Swing and a miss.

SIARPC is a rubbish idea, i was thinking that they would ditch this segment. but for some reasons they have gone mad. i mean look at the guest in this 11x01. what they had to talk about, both of them were hideous . and Jezza was looking like an idiot talking to them.
