I caught the BBC1 bit too, and asked the person in the room with me. They hadn't heard it, and I wasn't 100% sure. Glad to see I've not lost me marbles

That was the best episode of Top Gear I've seen in a VERY long time if ever. I loved it - I haven't laughed that much since the first time I saw the first car boat challenge.
And, I know this seems to be bucking the trend of the reviews so far but I also loved the SIARPC bit as well - Justin Lee Collins wasn't on top form but Alan Carr pulled out all the stops and was hilarious. And the police car segment was perfect, a good old fashioned cocking about challenge - this episode seemed to have a bit of everything for all TG fans - a car review for me to gloss over, a really good news segment and some brilliant high entertainment, brilliant but rubbish fun. 5/5 for me |

Well I think that was another brilliant episode. F430 segment was missing something, but not much of it, and I don't know what, but everything else was just as perfect. The guests were pretty shit in every sense, but the news more than made up for that. And did anyone here go to the filming? - What was on the screens??

Exactly. The power lap test of M3 vs Prius was so ridiculous that I actually though Clarkson was going to declare that M3 is more economical than a Prius. But Clarkson hit the nail right on the head when he said that it's not about going out to buy the latest and hottest hybrids...its about changing your own driving behavior that would be of the most impact!

Dunno, but whoever it was has probably been watching Spain v Italy in Euro 2008.
The best thing about this series so far has been the two trailers, the series preview and the references to Dave at the beginning.

The ironic thing is those 'Dave' comments will likely be cut when it ends up on Dave lol
The show reminded me a lot of the earlier 'new' Top Gears, especially with the 'car driving over something' segments. Not a bad thing that though! Though the whole buildup to the new 'character' hit a massive anti-climax with 'Top Gear Stuntman' in my opinion. They could have at least given him more of a character like 'The Stig'. |

Pretty average. Stuntman pointless, Ferrari review as predictable as the months of the year, guests were shit, fuel-saving interesting and the police part quite funny but a bit forced.

SIRPC= those two were tedious. I didn't laugh once, nor found them at all interesting.
StuntStig= um..what was that about?! Police Car Challenge= yes. I laughed out loud at anything on the telly for the first time in weeks, when Hammond rolled up with 'the Police..dial 999 for details' on his door. And those 'alarms' cracked us up. cannot wait for the bullet train challenge. all that said, glad they're back. |

those 2 from the friday night project... well theyre love or hate. i dont really like alan carr, he seems to be just hamming it up all the time for the camera, but the other guy can be ok from time to time.
im guessing all of our non-UK members are gonna think those two are complete tools. carr's voice is horrible... its not even commical. the begining was just like, eh? that super car race at the start was well random and i was wondering where they were going to take it, completely missed the point of the prius race....but some one above has just pointed out the message it was trying to get across i was like, well duh if u thrash the prius and cruise round in 6th in the BM of course thats gonna be the outcome, but yeah its how you drive it, not what u drive. good show 9/10 |

OOh that's nice, I get a nice welcome back notice :p
so yeah, decent episode, only slightly marred by the fucking god awfullness of alan carr's voice. I've decided that I can take what he says, just not in his voice. All segments good, but the suderia review had absolutely nothing memorable to be honest. Sounded good though.

I quite liked the guests compared to some of the morons they have had on, but I think that I might be alone on that one.
Police Car Challenge cracked me up, especially Jeremy's Alfa! "In Prison nobody can hear you scream" Amazing episode, 10/10.

Glad to have Top Gear back on tv. just wish it was for more than 6 weeks.
Clarkson's dave reference made me smile since its the only reason i watch dave. Best part of the episode was the better police car segment. James May had me in complete hysterics with his police car with "rozzers" written across it. Hammond's car was pure genius and was the best point of the episode. Only down part is the same part everyone else is pointing out. Alan Carr and Justin Lee Collins as the SIARPC guests didn't really keep me interested in the show. I think they're mostly a 'acquired taste' is the best way i can put them. I've only seen the 'friday night project' (or sunday night project as its called now) once and that was because it had david tennant in it. Really looking forward to the upcoming episodes especially the bullet train challenge and the top gear vs the germans challenge. |
