Car: 94 Buick Century - 86 Pontiac Grand Prix Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() | just saw the "torques" thread ( closed now) does the Brooklands actually have 530hp and near 1000 lb ft of torque? I wanted one before...

| I'm not Moe | Clarkson said in metric it had over 1000 "torques", meaning over 1000 n/m, meaning over ~738 lb/ft. The Brooklands has 774 lb/ft of torque. |

| Solid episode. I really liked the Bentley review, was far better than the Scuderia review. BTW, Jeremy's recent reviews tend to leave me confused. Beautiful camera shots, but too shaky in some bits, we didn't get to see a single drift in a single shot. Although it is nice to see cool new ideas in the camera/editing department. Alfa challenge was a good one, although I felt so sorry for James, he should have won it, he had the best car. It was funny the first couple of times, when Hammond bumped into him, but it got tiring afterwards. Good that James refused to tow him, I would have done the same thing and wow to the track day cars! ![]()

Car: Skyline R33 Rep Power: 9 ![]() | Jeremy should take James a bit more serious, James knows his stuff but it seems like he knows Jeremy will cut him off anyway so he has to go in short bursts to see how long he's allowed to chat. James's observations about the cars is quite interesting, puts a perspective on what they got, we didn't all grow up with those cars Hammond hitting his door way too hard into James's clean looking car was a let down for me, not funny anymore, almsot nasty and the constant bumping reminds me of my older brother always hitting me on the shoulder when I was 16, had to hit him to make him stop too. All the same I got to say i gave it a 9/10, 't was fun, scripted or not, sure, the track shoud have had more old similar cars, all those rich guys out there showing of their cars doesn't work for this kind of banter. Time for something totaly new though, maybe us forum people can think of a few fun ideas rather then shoot them down. maybe lada, mini and some old subaru or tiny yank car in a race to say.. france or belgium, ireland.. who knows. Keep it going but stop with the repeating jokes cause it's showing and the show will go sour :-/ Better to die in fame then to suck it dry and die in shame. (goh, could have been a Jeremy line that one) Last edited by Fleetfoot; July 8th, 2008 at 06:30 PM.. |

Car: Still driving a 7th Gen non-Vtec Civic coupe Rep Power: 9 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Gave it an 8. The entire episode was very good, though SIARPC again wandered and got lost. I like SIARPC, I really do, but with more than one person, it loses its focus. SIARPC has been at its best, and I will continue to say this, when they have someone on that can pose a challenge to Clarkson's tough interviewing style. I once said I would like to see Donald Trump on SIARPC, not because I'm an American or anything of that sort, but because he has a reputation for being the toughest person to interview in showbiz. That is really the type of person SIARPC needs to have, superstars, people with great car histories and knowledge of cars, and people who will make Clarkson's confident interviewing style work. I also gave it an 8, because as similarly stated above by other forum members, the Alfa video started to wear on me when Hammond rammed James for the umpteenth time. Other than that, I found it to be a good episode. I did like Episode 2 more however. |

Rep Power: 13 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | 8/10 Good episode, but I'm not entirely satisfied. Alfa Challenge was quite good, but a little bit too long. I don't like seeing the same jokes over and over again. Cheese under the bonnet and Jeremy's rollover were unnecessary. Jezza, you're 47 and you put cheese on the engine? I used to love the Challenges but once or twice a series, now when they do that so often it's not so moving. Don't get me wrong, no matter what they do I love TG, every bit of every episode, that's why I gave it 8. One more thing, Mr. Wilman let James review a car, I would like him to be more involved. Oh, and remember TG Track is not the only filming location to make a car review!

Car: Smart Roadster Coupe Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I am quietly hoping that at some point in one of the future challenges James will do something crafty like nerf Hammond straight into a tree... |

Oh, my reaction to the episode: meh. Wasn't bollock bloatingly brilliant, wasn't a travesty. Lack of point really started going over the alfa section. I reckon that they should go for something new now - It was really fresh with the porsche challenge (cos the £100 one was sort of a free practice), was really good with the non porsche one. Got a bit bloated by the 10k supercar, white van was a bit of a change, but going a little too far. The american One was proper mint, cos there was just no rehashing and the change of scenery worked, they got away with the african one. This one however, was just.... well what cheap car can we do now? Here's an idea - STUDENT CARS. You've got to buy a student car on a student budget. It's also, halfway practical. Yes, that sounds boring, but still, them three trying to be young. I know I've just suggested them rehashing an old idea, when I've just said they should be trying new stuff, but still, I'll make an exception for that one. :p PLEASE - GO FOR SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT YET STILL GOOD! :p

Car: Subaru Legacy Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I think that the Top Gear three have long ceased to be believable as people and are mere caricatures by this point. Compare the David Brent -> Michael Scott transition. Maybe if I accept that, I'll feel better. It was funny, but I don't feel I've gained anything for having seen the episode. Fingers crossed for the Japan ep, then. |

Car: Skyline R33 Rep Power: 9 ![]() | smallest engine around in to a shopping cart, get jezza on a trike, lowering and shortening cars, make fire-engines for less than.., where's james and hammond and jezza's try in the leana around the track (genuine), give each one x amount for fuel and y for car (come p with fuel efficent cars)or make electric car, do a nice 3 car trip again, more down to earth though, vectra style, or hatchback.. the guys have done so many funny things it's hard to find more, but let them be genuine, Hammonds "Because what I'm seeing, you'll love this, is a cow on the roof of your Camero", best bit of hammond right there, or Jezza and his silly shower in the car. they're unique gems. I don't care if it's scripted at any time, if the delivery is funny and believable script away. James seemed genuinely p'd about them ramming his car, so if that was scripted James is a good actor, if it wasn't good on him for being grumpy, |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() | I think they are starting to be complete a..holes. I hope it was a lot more staged than I think it was. Basically they were coming to a trackday and acting like morons and creating dangerous situations around people with proper cars on the track with their crappy cars. I am sorry but I have seen TG for years, but this really was bad. As I said, even though I have seen the show for years, I am not sure I want to spend time watching it anymore. And it is hard for me to watch them just ruin a car that looks fine, like when hammond just felt like making a huge dent in a car that otherwise looked fine. (although I didn't mind them thrashing the two others). I like cars, go fast, burn a lot of gas, be politically incorrect whatever, but that alfa and trackday segment was just horrible. I think I will let other download the next episode and tell me about it. |
