Good god you people really lost sight of what TG is. Who cares if it's staged?!?!?! That was one of the funnest episodes of the series and a great TG episode overall.

The fake Rolls was great, the Gumpert was certainly interesting, JK was brilliant as expected and the D-motor race, if over-analyzed really sucked, but if you just watch it for fun (which wake up ppl, is what TG is all about since the new format began) it was brilliant as well.

I gave it a 10, I just loved every minute of it.

It was absolutely epic 10 out of 10, especially the Brighton vs. Germany part, too sad it's the last episode though.

BTW how could they cut the English swearing and on the other hand leave the German ones, like Arschloch and Scheiße....etc.

Because 3-year old kids watching after the watershed aren't going to pick up on German curse words as easily.

I got confused by that either. And thats why I can't understand people here are taking that last race Schrick vs. Stig seriously. That whole competition was staged. Which is not a bad thing at all. It was funny stuff from the beginning to the end. But it wasn't a competition to lose or to win.
Just a question about that video. When did they do that?
It was not on a episode and I recognise that place as the Stigs favorite holiday resort.
Did they show that in a DVD or something?

This statement on that page... is soooooooooo i dont find a word... German car shows are crap... The dialogs sound terribly staged, the sound edit is shit (too much cracking noises and other acoustical "dirt" like steps. The camera is shit too because of too less movement and no filters and i guess many things more i can not exactly point out

On the other hand, we can not do jokes about any other nations like TG does all the time. It would be a major scandal, the tabloids would be all over it for weeks and in the end the show would have to be skipped because millions of people would consider it being racist and not acceptable for TV.

I'm NOT exaggerating! Thats simply the truth... you are not allowed to criticize or make fun of any other nation on public without major personal consequences!!!

I'm a little sick of these daily WWII mocking to be honest.Since it took hell of an effort to beat a little country whose few men where spread over all Europe and therefore didn't have a real chance to "defend" [i know this sounds odd] its gained area I wouldn't be so proud about that, should be rather naturally and the Brits would never have done that by themselves
But the main reason, as elaborated is that we simply aren't allowed to shout back sth mean

In the article quoted above they praise themselves for how important they are.. and how good they must be for TG coming towards them. Thats just rubbish...

I hate that! It's a typical German of "officials" of any king being "over-proud" of things nobody really cares about... things nobody has ever noticed before

I can assure you the German version will be bullshit, especially when u understand German and notice their presenting style.

1966- England beat West Germany to win world cup.

El Alamein- There were two battles of El Alamein in the second world war. The second battle was crucial and the allies beat the axis.

1939-1945- WW2

Jutland- was a WW1 battle. (i think)

That James was pretty fast in the Dbrs9 . LOL

I gave it an 8. For once I didn't skip the SIARP, at least J-Kay was a bit fun.

From my knowledge - indeed you were. However I had to google for Jutland:

Quote:
The Battle of Jutland (German: Skagerrakschlacht (Battle of the Skagerrak); Danish: Søslaget ved Jylland / Søslaget om Skagerrak) was the largest naval battle of World War I and the only full-scale clash of battleships in that war. It is also, by certain criteria, the largest naval battle in history...

...The combatants were the Imperial German Navy's High Seas Fleet commanded by Vice-Admiral Reinhard Scheer and the Royal Navy’s British Grand Fleet commanded by Admiral Sir John Jellicoe. The intention of the German fleet was to lure out, trap and destroy a portion of the Grand Fleet, as the Germans were insufficient in number to engage the entire British fleet at one time. This formed part of their larger strategy of breaking the British naval blockade of the North Sea and allowing German mercantile shipping to operate again. The Royal Navy, on the other hand, was pursuing a strategy seeking to engage and destroy the High Seas Fleet or else keep the German force bottled up and away from Britain's own shipping lanes.

The Germans' plan was to use Vice-Admiral Franz Hipper’s fast scouting group of five modern battlecruisers to lure Vice-Admiral Sir David Beatty’s battlecruiser squadrons through a submarine picket line and into the path of the main German fleet and so destroy them. But the British had learned from signal intercepts that a major fleet operation was likely, and on 30 May Jellicoe sailed with the Grand Fleet to rendezvous with Beatty, passing the intended positions of the German submarine pickets before the submarines had reached those positions.

On the afternoon of 31 May Beatty encountered Hipper's battlecruiser force long before the Germans had expected, negating any submarine influence, but in a running battle Hipper successfully drew the British vanguard into the path of the High Seas Fleet. By the time Beatty turned towards the British main fleet he had lost two battlecruisers along with his numerical advantage over Hipper. However the German fleet in pursuit of Beatty was drawn towards the main British fleet. From 18:30 hrs, when the sun was lowering on the western horizon backlighting the German forces, until nightfall at about 20:30 the two huge fleets — totaling 250 ships between them — were heavily engaged.

Fourteen British and eleven German ships were sunk with great loss of life. After sunset, and throughout the night, Jellicoe manœuvered to cut the Germans off from their base in hopes of continuing the battle in the morning, but under cover of darkness Scheer crossed the wake of the British fleet and returned to port.

Both sides claimed victory. The British had lost more ships and many more sailors, and the British press criticised the Grand Fleet's actions, but Scheer’s plan of destroying Beatty’s squadrons had also failed. The Germans continued to pose a threat that required the British to keep their battleships concentrated in the North Sea, but they never again contested control of the high seas. Instead, the German Navy turned its efforts and resources to unrestricted submarine warfare.

Quote:
* At the First Battle of El Alamein (July 1 – July 27, 1942) the advance of Axis troops on Alexandria was blunted by the Allies, when the German Panzers tried to outflank the allied position.
* At the Second Battle of El Alamein (October 23 – November 4, 1942) Allied forces broke the Axis line and forced them in a retreat that pushed them all the way back to Tunisia. Winston Churchill said of this victory: "This is not the end, nor is it even the beginning of the end, but it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning."

Loved it. Then again I'd give any episode a 10 just because it's Top Gear!

That said, definitely hasn't been enough of Hammond + May in this rather short series. Now to go and watch Where Eagles Dare :p

And like last week ... this one didn´t really excite me too.

I don´t like D-Motor at all, in fact I hate it (could rant about this for hours but this is not the place I guess), so the "GB-German" Segment was almost a total loss for me. Had one or two funny moments (Hammond mainly ), but just as my face started to show a smile, one of the D-Motor Team was shown or (even worse!) spoke.

James crazy-japanese-Cars-Bit was good. James could review a can of beans and it would still be very entertaining and watchable, for next series I would really really wish for more reviews by James May.

The Gumpert ... oh how I don´t care about it. I wish it wouldn´t have adjustable ride-hight and couldn´t get over a speed-bump ... so it would be off the board, because IMO it has less charakter and charimsa than a bucket. Hammond did well, I just didn´t like the car and wanted to fast-forward every time it was visible.

Jay Kay (or how ever that´s written), was a good guest. I think he´s almost as arrogant and self-centered as Simon Cowell, but he makes up for that with passion. He genuinely wanted to win this ... and it showed. Good fun!

Again, the news lacked spontaneity like in most of this season episodes.
