At last, Top Gear is back, but for one episode only....

I have like many others found this series a little forced and below the usual standard, but tonight was a timely reminder that when they get it right they do it in spades.

I won't go piece by piece or paraphrase what others have already said, except to add that having nearly married a German they are a great bunch of people in my experience, possessed of a rather dry sense of humour and they take all our comments about the two World Wars and obsession with beating them at football with a pinch of salt and a wry smile. They also played up quite nicely to our stereotypical view of them for which I give them big respect.

Roll on series 12 when the "back to basics" approach should have had a chance to work.

That was an awesome finish to the series. Enjoyable from start to finish.
The two car reviews by May was good as was Hammonds review on the Gumpert. J Kay finally takes down Cowell nice haha. And Top Gear Vs The Germans was fantastic, hilarious all the way through

Christ man, british scahdenfreude about the war is tradition! We take the piss out of the germans, we have a good time, they get the moral high ground and the good car industry.... and Hasslehoff.

Also - germans, are britain's rivals. It has to be done. They probably do the same.

I really enjoyed it. It was great fun.

I feel sorry for the Germans, though. Can't wait to see D-Motor showing the same thing.

That was a really fun episode, I even enjoyed SIARPC. The whole series has been really well balanced. Good work guys!

Anyway...

I thought the Germans were pretty cool, actually. I must admit to finding the whole 'war thing' rather cringe worthy, but it could have been a lot worse - they could have won, I mean, it was all done with humour and the TG3 took the piss out of themselves. And let me be honest: I drive a German car and probably always will. That is until the day when I can afford an Aston Martin.

Dietmar Hamann, Karl-Heinz Riedle, Christian Ziege and Marcus Babel: walk on...

first three episodes of S11 - weak
last three episodes of S11 - brilliant.

Dunno what else to say really, great end to probably one of the weaker series. Really enjoyed SIARPC for once, much better with just one guest. The car reviews were really good, the Britain v Germany segment was hilarious - not enough Sabine though!

This is it. This is the way TopGear should be done. Great! Let's continue with this in the 12th season please.

1. A great car review to begin with, although not one for the British market.
2. A great super car review that for once wasn't by Jeremy.
3. A great guest that really cared about cars. I don't give a horses arse about financial t**ts like last week.
4. A great challenge. And mocking the Germans.

The perfect Top Gear recipe.

Great episode this week. Completely agreed with what's been said before. Entertaining and funny, not a bad balance this series.

Top Gear vs. Germans, even if staged, was very funny indeed.

I think you'll find I'm in what was the occupied zone...
funfact! When de Gaulle fled France for London, as the Nazis invaded, he did so from Bordeaux airport. There's a plaque commemorating it.

What I meant was the Germans must know all the war jokes inside out now. I get an idea what it must be like when the English go on about 1966 all the time...

Nice that Top Gear series 11 ended on a high note, though. Class episode.

And you wonder why you haven't ever won the Premiership? Look at every Premiership winning United side and count the Germans - none, just like the Premiership Trophies conspicuous by their absence at Anfield.

Since they were in Belgium, maybe they should have added a Gillet Vertigo to the drag race. Good ep though!

Hi, i really enjoyed every part of this episode (jap. RR, Gumpert, SIARPC) and gave it a 10!
For me as a german viewer, top gear vs. the well known D-motor was brilliant and the highlight of series 11.

Auch wenn wir natürlich alle wissen, dass das Duell etwas anders ausgegangen wäre...

Disappointing end to an overall good series.

Come to think of it, I've never liked any of the series finales.
