MOTORING show Top Gear has been secretly poking fun at Strictly Come Dancing — in Morse code.

Jibes were broadcast last week in dot-dash beeps dubbed over the soundtrack to the show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson.

As mystery racing driver The Stig hurtled around a track in a Lamborghini, the message was tapped out: “Strictly Come Dancing is crap”. Another spelt out: “I love cheese”.

The jokes went unnoticed by most viewers — but were picked up by Morse code geeks.

One said: “I know Morse code when I hear it so I played it back and worked out what they were saying. It’s typical Top Gear to slag off Strictly — can you imagine Clarkson in a sequined top?”[/QUOTE]

I saw is earilier and wondered how could this person have seen the morse code and not noticed Jeremy in his new shirt, which was damn near a "sequined top"?

Also, in two track races in Clarkson's Supercar Showdown, the Porsche did defeat Clarkson's preferred Audi R8.

So, Clarkson's criticism of the Porsche 911 is a matter of personal prejudice as opposed to professionalism, which can be summed up as follows:

-- the rear-wheel drive version is hard to control at high speeds
-- its ancestry is directly traced to the Volkswagen Beetle, which he truly hates for being underpowered and uncomfortable yet still a bestseller
-- Porsche is popular, and Jeremy has an innate skepticism of anything popular (popular isn't Cool enough for the Cool Wall)

I like the "STRICTLY IS CRAP" and how both of them got it right.
And the first one is "ME LIKE CHEESE" even though one failed

As a matter of fact, I also first read 'GLICCHESE' the first time, but then I figured out that the spacings were really short and there was a difference between them after all. Congratulations to Ironlord nevertheless for trying to decode it by only using his ears

If anyone is interested, the program I used is an iTunes plug-in (only available for Mac OS at this time). But it seems IronLord has already found either this or something similar As I'm mostly unable to watch the show in real-time, I guess you'll be getting the first decodings from him for the next episodes.

Hi there.

Well. Good episode but not one of the best for me. Just put 7/10. It was hilarious. The truck thing was very funny, the lambo test was huge and what a sound.

But, for me it's not a good first episode. I would have preferred a big car trip, of a big challenge, or simply mad cars. Like other season were you get on the first ep the trip to europe with cars or huge car VS thing challenge.

My think is that it"s a very good second episode. But i'd rather have an other first one.

I like to be astonished with the first TG of the season, to fill the huge miss we had in the summer. But nevermind, I still won't miss any TG. it's still so much better than everything else.

After having watched the episode, I was slightly underwhelmed. It wasn't that entertaining, the first bit was a classic case of Clarkson bigotry against everything that's badged Porsche (which was expected), followed by an overwhelming lump of Lamborghini fanboyism. The fact that every other automotive publication says the GT2 is brilliant, really makes him look silly. But hey, he's got a script, meaning that no matter what the car actually is like, the tests are based on prejudice. I also beg to differ on it's looks; The Gallardo might look all nice and modern today, but give it some years and it will be resigned to the dark pages of the history books, the 911 on the other hand will remain a timeless classic.

The lorry bit could have been funnier too, some of the jokes seemed a bit restrained...

Conscious mind that I am, I though the bit when clarkson's truck caught fire and all the black smoke was a bit unenviromental-friendly. They could have do something else to it.

Otherwise i found this one hilarious and cracking up several times during the show.
