Probably going to get -rep for this but I think for me this has been the weakest ep of the series.
I am amazed with how fast the royal mail gets letters from A-B at that cost but the race just did not seem that exciting. Never heard of British bull dog had to google it but even that did not excite me. Looked liked that the 2 guys where having fun at the start with the two cars though. |

Could the army crush the drug dealers and leave the cars alone.
The rate things are going Richard or James is going to have to cut there hair so they can still sit together for the news bit. |

Enjoyed that.
Focus vs Renault - I'd have the Ford every time. One of those drove past me in that shade of green. It is a hell of a mean looking beastie - just wish you could get it in black. Porsche vs Post. Funny, though could have been better. If you ever get the chance to go to Orkney, do so - amazing place. I've been to Twatt, by the way. It was... wet. I knew they'd get a shot of it at some point. Usain Bolt - Didn't know he was the guest, was surprised. Seemed a good sport. Army vs Evo - clearly scripted from moment one, but who cares, it was still entertaining, and that was the main thing. And I'd love to see the look on the prisoners face. "That's my car... shit."

This however made no point at all except showing 'how great the british army is'. Accept perhaps for the one person out there who is planning on a buying a 500 bhp evo VII from a condom using drugsdealer.... really its like season 9 (after the hammond accident) all over again.... Well atleased their was someone who believed the whole drugsdealer/prisoner thing Last edited by Dann; July 12th, 2009 at 10:09 PM. |

I really liked the start of this one, the Ford vs Renault was great.
The race was good as well, it actually got me quite excited. Usain Bolt was quite funny for a sports guy, and the news was very good (Titbon ).The army thing was I think the weakest part, as although it was good, it was quite scripted, and a bit of a foregone conclusion because of the RRS vs Challenger a couple of years ago. I enjoyed it more than last week though, 8/10

Overall the ep was kind of week, but some pretty good points though.
The review at the start was pretty good, IMO. We actually got good info about both cars, and the shot of Hamster and Jezza going at it and getting told off the crew was pretty awesome... The news was good, that Zonda was pretty sexy looking, Hammond nearly jizzed at one point there... The Panamera/stamp race...the Pamamera itself was pretty fucking gorgeous. Much better than the first look we got of the "Porsche Maxi" last year . Honestly though...I found the whole race a bit boring...The Bolt interview, I was half distracted by the dishy guy in the t-shirt with the great smile next to Bolt. But a lot of the interview was a bit boring. I did like the whole bit with the magazine, poor Richard! . His lap was something special though! The final bit with the Evo. There were some epic shots, as usual. But to be honest, I had a real sense of Deja vu, and as others have said, it seemed really scripted. Overall...7/10, mainly because they actually talked about CARS this time round...but a lot of the features were pretty contrived.

Quite like this one.
Focus and Megane was good, one of the very few times we see just Jeremy and Richard doing a segment together, it's normally James and Richard, James and Jeremy or all 3. Panamera bit was a bit disappointing, not because of the car or anything, it was way way to short for what it could have been, it just seemed very rushed. Did have to listen to my dad pointing out where abouts they were when they were going through Scotland though. I knew that bit was filmed on the A9 north of Inverness, and I knew that was the Scrabster ferry to Orkney. SIARPC did seem like it was Jeremy talking for a long time, but it was definitely better than last weeks guest. Evo, good cinematography, just the end let it down where most of the bullets hitting the car on the shot where the camera was down beside the wheel looked as though it was done on a computer and not real. Ah well, good fun. |

The ending was poorly faked, boring...
Overall it was a good episode though.

Not watched the show yet so I'll comment later, but I thought I'd link you to the Mitsubishi owners sulking over the Evo getting vaped....

I enjoyed the show, thought the Panamera bit was to rushed, perhaps they should've done it in two parts? one before the SIARPC and one after?
Loved the RS vs R26.R.To bad for that evo still it was great fun, although obviously scripted.I was hoping a bit more coverage from Goodwood... GTbyCitroën? I'd give it 7.5/10 :p but voted 8 due to the lack of a 7.5 choise

It's funny how I don't seem to agree with the majority here. The two first episodes of this series - which inarguably got the highest scores so far this season - I gave a 7 for having too many "challenge"-segments that were focused on entertaining with what looked to me like slapstick-comedy. The last two episodes got a nine and a ten respectively - all while scoring in the 7-8 range here on the forums. Hmm.
Perhaps I'm being a bit large giving this show a ten, but the first bit with the Focus RS vs. the Megane R26.R really did awake some old Top Gear memories in me. And that was really it. The Panamera bit was decent; it felt a bit short and sort of "rushed" (not much else they could have reported on during the race though). I would have loved to hear more about the car itself and the design. Granted the Evo bit was both scripted and completely pointless, but for some reason it didn't really matter - the show, for me, really ended after SIARPC. Okay so maybe a ten was a bit rushed after all. Nine, maybe.

I gave it a 10. Why? So I'm not a cock as most of the poeple in here going all [voice of Ferrari owners club man]:awww that's not up to my standards, awww that was staged blablablabla.
Stop being Bill Oddies and enjoy the show. Who cares if the army thing was staged?! As Clarkson would say: There were tanks and heavy weapons man, hw can you be an anorak at this kinda thing. I don't know if this is how you see al episodes, but god almighty your cranky... Great show have ended in the past because of nagging complaints..i'm not prepared to lose Top Gear at least until series 23..

Gave it an 8, but should have given it a 7. It was good, but not great.

I enjoyed it. I particularly loved the Focus v Megane segment, which reminded me of Top Gear from a few series back. In fact, on the whole this series is reminding me of how Top Gear was before it became the 'money no object' spectacle of the last few series. It does seem that things have been scaled back a bit, and to be honest, I don't think this is a problem. It isn't for me, anyway, though I suspect people who've only been actively watching for the last couple of years might find it a bit less satisfying.
I've thought all along that the Panamera was an unattractive car, but that didn't detract from the segment. I rather like seeing cars being driven, and that gave them a good premise to just drive. Enjoyed Usain Bolt too. Wasn't mad keen on the Evo bit, but it still raised a few smiles. Not perhaps the best ever episode of Top Gear, but they can't all be. Still better than most stuff on the telly
