Default It's Official ...

Australia is a worse country that the United Kingdom.

They showed this episode on SBS tonight .. and among the various cuts and editing they very deliberately cut out the part of the Sirocco ad where the guy blew his brains out. I'd like to think that it was cut because of a difference in airing times between the UK and Australia, but since it is well known that Top Gear is viewed in the UK by school children, I fear this is not the case.

Australia is becoming a nanny state without peer. We are a bunch of pathetic prudes and it sickens me to the point of emigration. Our governments can't manage a budget sheet, and seem to think it is more important to concentrate on banning Red Bull (because parents can't be trusted to parent their children) than maintaining fundamental public infrastucture like hospitals, roads and public transport.

Does anyone know what the second piece of music was on the Maloo's section at the beginning? (Starts just before he says "This is called the Maloo".) That was fantastic, what an engine note!

Why did TG do this? Why this setting? Why now?

The message I got in the end was one of harmony and balance between man, nature, and machine. But perhaps, just perhaps, the "anti-green" Clarkson himself designed this piece to express what he cannot put into words: that as brilliant as cars are, nature is truly epic. And worth saving.

I don't think TG is going anywhere. And for me TG = the three of those blokes. But yes, future episodes just might become a little more green.
What i get from the film is that it is meant to be ironic. The film talks about how its the end of the era for supercars and how environmental pressures and overall uselessness of them means that they are dieing breed. The photography of the film shows completely blissful environment with blue sky and rolling clouds, the landscape is always a lush green and the flowers growing suggests the environment isn't dieing but still rejuvenating and growing. Then you have the completely empty roads, the narration hints at that cars like their can't be used for their intended purpose and yet, the entire film shows a v12 aston martin, thundering along empty open roads in a spectacular manner. As for the cars, its clear the end of the super car isn't here and that now there is probably a record number of super cars on the market.

I'm still not sure "an ending" is meant to mean in this context though.

I have to agree, watching all the seasons on the computer that i have downloaded, then watching them on SBS, they do seem to cut a fair few things out, mind you they keep the "oh COCK" and other bits and pieces.. I thought that the AMA or who ever governs what is able to be showen on the tv, would have cut them out, due to them pretty much cutting everything else out apart from SHIT, they seem to love to leave that in.. I can't wait till season 14 is aired, i think that with the current way the world is dealing with this "crisis" that there will be less super-cars and even less hyper-cars showen on TG, i hope this isn't the case..

I love Top Gear, it provides entertainment which you dont get anywhere else.. and i hope it keeps going for years to come..

8/10 - Although it would be better without the VW spoof ad.

Didn't they ban Left for Dead 2 over there? I mean I know that stuff like that is graphic, but it almost seems, like you said, that parents have to learn how to parent their children, not depend on the state to do it for them.
