There is no replacement for displacement.
    - Wolfgang Bernhard, then Chief Operating Officer, Chrysler Group talking about the Dodge Viper SRT-10
... I ask Herb Helbig, vehicle synthesis manager for SRT and a member of the original Team Viper development group since day one, if they'd ever thought of adding traction control. "It comes with two," he says, pointing at my feet. "Learn to use them." Got it.

All in all good, gave it a 7, could have been more interaction with the population, a bit too much in the jungle

This was superb. I still can't believe that Clarkson had the balls to do that pass in the death road.

Gave it a 9 - best bloody episode by far. I think (IMO) the only thinh that dragged it down was
Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)
Hammond's car catching fire and rolling down the dune at the end.
Did kinda kill it for me - although not saying I didn't like that episode. Some of those parts were epic.

    Wow. Just Wow. 10/10.

    That was fucking amazing.

I don't give a shit how much scripting or whatever the Daily Mail pushers with start bleating on about.
That was the best bit of tv I have seen all year.

I was actually watching between my fingers a few times. The lads going down the ramp, or over the bridge, Jezza going past the waterfall. Fuck me. Wow.

Hammond in the car with the bug had me rolling on the floor. James going all Rambo with the machete, the Anne Summers box, all brilliant!!

Then they toned it down and made it much more tense with the 3 of them suffering from altitude sickness.

It was one of the most exciting, tense and entertaining episodes of Top Gear since the Botswana special.

Nice one lads!! Ye have done yourselves proud!!!

I'm going to hold off rating until I've seen the 720p version, because I missed the first 20 minutes or so and I watched the rest on the BBC's (rubbish) live stream.
However, from what I did see, I thought it was ruddy awesome, a good lift out of the slight mediocrity of this series so far.
They were completely and utterly totally barking fucking bonkers to drive straight up to 17,000ft though, and that dune at the end was terrifying, to say nothing of el camino de muerte.

An 10 for sure. Yes, there may have been slightly contrived moments but I'm not going to analyse them simply because when the credits rolled I felt like I always want to feel after any episode of TG and that feeling has been missing for a while now.

One curious thing to speculate about - they were still working on the final edit mid-afternoon on Christmas Eve. It does force me to speculate whether the point James made about "you've been crashing into me for the last three series and it just isn't funny any more" would have been in there had so many people not been expressing their views about the predictable tone lately.

Other than that I was able simply to sit back and enjoy a spectacular piece of entertaining and utterly awesome television. If they can keep that level of quality for the more run of the mill episodes in future then Top Gear's own future is secured for as long as they want it.

Wow, what can i say but thats a 10/10 for me.
Everything from the Michael Bay inspired hero shots of the Top Gear trio to their escapades was pure classic Top Gear and really enjoyable.
The Death Road moment sticks out most for me, James with his vertigo. how he made through that road i have no idea and god knows how we would have handled what happened to Clarkson. When that happened that is one of the rare times where i had my nails dug into the chair, how he managed to make it through that i have no idea and i have to hand it to him for staying cool at that point.
I imagine its only a amount of time now until some environmental group complains about them cutting down trees in the rainforest and they'll probably get the Daily Mail behind them as well. On that matter there will probably be anti-drug people as well having a moan about tonights episode.
On that matter i couldn't help but laugh at Hammonds graffiti on his car, the look of fear on Hammond's face when he saw the snake and was learning about the insects of the rainforest and although his car rolling in the sand dune did feel a bit scripted the episode still felt miles ahead of last weeks.
This has got to be the episode of the season and possibly one of the best episodes they've done. after this weeks episode i felt they had atoned themselves and earned redemption after last weeks episode.

    Fantastic, thought it was great.

Only one very small let down was...
Spoiler Text: (Click here to toggle display)
When Hammonds car rolled down the dune. Although I am guessing its because its wheelbase was so short and so jacked up the chance of it rolling was too great to actully drive it down.

Anyways, I shall probably leave a more in-depth comment later but for now this is a definate 10/10.

Quite possibly the finest 75 mins of television ever produced. Top Gear at it's very best. Just goes to show that they make the best films when they are simply being themselves and not acting to their characters. That's why we love it so much. Well done guys.

This was the show at its best in my opinion. Absolutely brilliant. I know its a bit unfair to *just* say that considering the amount of work that went into it no doubt, but that's all that needs to be said on the positive side. As an overall programme, it was bloody brilliant.

If the main series carries on the way it is going, i'd much prefer we just get a series of specials over the course of the year, and just leave the series well alone.

I've given it a 10 without question. Although i was a bit peeved after all the Toyota went through for it to be destroyed by Hammond being a pillock and leaving a car he knew had brake problems near the edge of a dune with a long plummeting drop!

I really was sh*tting myself watching Clarkson on the edge of that road! Part of me thought that this couldn't be real, but i can't imagine how they'd fake that!

Top Gear became epic once again with tonights episode. Lets hope they can keep it going
