well if you're flying british airways, there's a fair chance they got one or two top gear eps on tap. i've done a bit of flying with them last year (tokyo london, london new york, and quite a bit in between) and it seems on most of the long haul fligts they had top gear. their movie choices is also pretty decent and rather up to speed, so ya, ba rocks. and same can be said for quantas. to best airlines in the world

oh and the polar one.. that was one truly awesome show. i just can't think of something to top it besides driving on the moon - which, despite jeremy claiming, didn't happen last season

Hammond was saying on Moyle's show that he and his team were running from polar bears for much of their trip but it was never mentioned in the film--maybe that's in the director's cut?

I just got the Blu-Ray and I haven't watched it while paying attention (yet), but it is a Director's Cut and it has scenes that didn't air on TV.

Its been a while since I've seen the longer version but i think when they are stuck in the second bolder field you see a bit more of that than what you did in the BBC version.

IIRC, the extended version had the two J's discovering an abandoned military base, plus more work in the boulder field.

I got the DC version on HDBits, and was wondering if anyone had more info about the random house Richard and Matty stayed at?

I finally saw this tonight, it aired on the BBC Knowledge channel which launched today on Foxtel. Looked pretty brutal, but I think I would have preferred going in the car, even with the hours of manual labour still nowhere near as tough as running/skiing/riding a dogsled. When James was slicing the lemon in the car I was just waiting for Jeremy to hit a big bump and for James to slice the top of his thumb off (I work in hospitality and freak out when anyone tries to slice fruit that way - I know three people who have lost fingertips doing it, and that's standing still).

I saw this version as well on Foxtel, I enjoyed the version I downloaded from here. It is more intense when there isn't any commercials in it.

While I know that Top Gear is edited somewhat and not everything is as it happened, I much confess I was very disappointed reading this. It makes it sound like the whole thing was COMPLETELY fake. Why, if Hammond left a day before, didn't they just SHOW that?! And if he only got halfway, I don't want them to pretend that he did go all the way. It kind of makes me mad that it was THAT badly altered for the TV...

That said, I really enjoyed watching this a while back... I just happened to discover this now and it's kind of disheartening.

did THEY ever say hammond made it? i remember something like "hammond never made it to the pole" but don't really know whether it was said in the show or written in one of the weblogs...

but i'm pretty sure they never said in the show that hammond made it to the pole...
