I thought this showed just how unscripted Top Gear is. TGGF was clearly scripted - only a total loon with the IQ of a puddle would have been surprised by that.
The difference between them doing this and Top Gear was pretty obvious. So that's one in the eye for BORING people who endlessly witter on about that not being real, that is fake, I'm dull and no-one likes me which is why I pick faults in Top Gear etc... It was quite amusing; the laugh-out-loud moment for me was watching Hammond tumble into the hole in the digger. I liked the Poles, too (mostly TG crew by the looks of it). Britain has been invaded by about 300,000 Polish people in the last few years and unlike some I could mention, they are decent, hard working people. OK, so they eat the carp from our park lakes, but nobody is perfect. Last edited by James May's Hair; March 19th, 2008 at 2:23 PM. |

It wasn't funny at all. How can Clarkson get any more unlikeable than this?

wow some people are being far to critical for what is essentially a charity bit of film. all the sport relief stuff is horrifically cheesey and planned, always has been, thats just the way it is. just watch it and enjoy it... its for a good cause (if you believe in that kinda thing....which im skeptical of)

WOW, you people are strange, its not supposed to be a full on top gear episode. just a bit of sillyness to get people to donate for charity. They made a parody of another show not a show full of cars.
I found it funny, slapstic sillyness. The brass band playing too loud was a classic though. And COME ON ! Hammond crashing the digger and playing with a jet engine powered "vehicle" again ? How can it get any funnier than that ? Anyway good work boys hope they raised some cash for the causes. Last edited by conio; March 15th, 2008 at 1:31 PM. |

I liked the bit with Clarkson and May coming back from the garden centre in the van. If you look closely there's a copy of the Sun in front of Clarkson, and a Telegraph in front of May. This works on 3 levels : one, it's a take off of stereotypical 'white van man', two, it shows the apparent intellectual difference between the two, and three, it's the paper that each of them have a column in.

It wasn't just the fact it was so clearly fake it was just how they couldn't come up with something new that was funny, they just kept doing the same jokes again and again.
Lets run over something with the van... what can we do now? Run over something else! Lets destroy May's shed... what can we do next? hmmm.. I know lets destroy the shed again! Great idea, and after that we can do it again! Did anybody else notice how they had a different name for the show on their jackets compared to the name on the Van? TGGF (Top Gear Ground Force) and TGGGF (Top Garden Gear Ground Force) I found that some what odd. |

) but most of it just seemed forced rather than funny. They can make a scripted show funny though - I like Top Gear and their jokes very much. But it's good that many of you enjoyed it, then it was already worth showing it

Just when I thought the users of Digital Spy couldn't get any more stupid, this thread comes along. Message No. 20 says it all.
Right, I'm going out - something DS users should do more often. |

Absolutely hilarious.
Obviously it was scripted, and I thought they made it pretty clear from the get-go, but it didn't shy away from the fact that it was a classic Top Gear episode. Albeit, a slapstick mirror of their normal show, made to raise money for an excellent cause. I would even say that this was one of the most funniest Top Gear specials in a while. But hey, that's just me. /If people actually took this 'special' seriously and compared this epp with normal Top Gear (with cars) then they're pretty stupid.

:O Wow... That was terrible. Not terrible according to regular TV standards, but according to the bar that Top Gear has raised itself.
The only reason screw ups were funny is because they would happen unexpectedly in a situation and TV show that ussually would not have them. Caravaning episode is a good example of how while watching them three bafoons interact was entertaining, while trying to review the act of caravaning with some tips, prices and etc. Then bam they screw up and burn the tent etc. This on the other hand has so little to do with the goal of building the garden, it's just them bickering and yelling at each other while destroying everything. I found it not funny, and even annoying. I'm very sad now :\ Like all good writing, previously in Top Gear there would be calm moments and then either build up of tensions and then a conflict, or a random conflict to surprise the viewer. Here however it's just constant conflict and a pointless story. Is there a writers strike in England I did not know about? Last edited by TopGearWannabe; March 15th, 2008 at 4:11 PM. |

Thought it was pretty entertaining, the chickens were a laugh out loud moment though. Just the way the legs fanned out the faster they spun ![]() Good stuff! I think people might just be taking it a little too seriously. |
