There was an advert where you would call with the music going on, and you'd receive a SMS with the artist and track names.
But I guess this one is just too obscure for that, and I don't remember the number.

Any of you guys in the UK can call Ford up and ask them. I'm sure they would know...

@ Semt-x, thanks for the info. and song title/artist. images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

I did look at the list at the bottom of the 1st page, but as I haven't got a recording of the show, I couldn't check the exact times.

In future i'll make a note of the time the tune starts and stops.

where do you start the clock at? is it as soon as the opening title credits start, or from when the show actually starts and someone starts talking?

the service Bihus is talking about is called Shazam I think, but i don't know the number.

just check the time code from the file, it starts usually when the opening credits start (unless there's a splash screen from the encoder for a few seconds first). most video players show the running time like a VCR machine somewhere, that's what we all use.

@ Designed, oh right, you guys are all watching it as a computer file?

I'm watching it on tv at 8pm on sundays on BBC2, as I'm in the UK.

I'll just make note of the time on my watch when I see a song I want info about.

Lucky devil, no chance of BBC here so images/smilies/wink.gif If you want, take the time from the second the intro starts playing, that'll be close enough, especially if it's coupled with screen events or dialogue lines (which usually will do the trick even stand alone).

I just quickly scanned through Vanesa Mae's
(1995) The Violin Player
(1999) The Original Four Seasons & The Devil's Trill Sonata
(2002) The Best Of
(2003) The Ultimate
(2004) Choreography
I didn't hear the song, or anything quite like it. I could very well be wrong since I just listened to little bits of the songs. Except this song has a much more electronic beat than anything I heard from Vanesa Mae.

For the Aston clip, wouldn't the BBC know? Couldn't we just get in touch with someone there, somehow?

Same here.. looked at Bond but I think I'm barking up the wrong tree. This is driving me nuts.

Yeah, Bond was the first thing I thought of.
I guess if people want to know it that badly, someone will have to be bothered to write BBC or Top Gear.

Ok, I contacted BBC about this a few days ago with no luck.

I think the last resort is to CALL Ford (UK) and look through that route.

I downloaded a whole ton of Overseer and Hybrid, but nothing was even remotely close.

Tried a few music trackers, no go there. Also asked a forum or two and many people I know who all say the same thing

"Never heard it before, but its a cool track."

*edit*

The 18:20 - 18:45 song, of course.

And after extraction of the music itself still no artist or song title for the 18:00 - 18:40 section of this Top Gear episode. I was able to extract the song itself but MP3 header info (ie TAGs).

I'm asking a DJ friend of mind to find out if he knows what the song is.

Can you send me an mp3 of the extracted music? I can't get those links to work properly, thanks 94rangerdood at gmail.com

Try this, it's an mp3 clip of the song when it featured in the Zonda Roadster test.

I played the clip to a friend of mine who knos Vanessa Mae's stuff and said "I'm 95% certain it isn't her" which is logical since the clip doesn't really have a leading violin in it, if you know what I mean. He also said "try Bond" but Classified and Best of / Explosive were duds.

Too bad that BBC doesn't reply, another friend just sent an email there earlier this week. Anyone got friends in Ford's ad department?

No problems... you'll find it here (no voice over):
http://media.putfile.com/Ford-uk-microsite-loop

My DJ friend also mentioned the service in the UK where you'd hold a song against the phone for 15 seconds and you'd get a SMS response. He is stumped too and is asking some of the guys he knows.

Has anyone tried doing the UK phone thing? We have some UK'ers around here... I'm hitting up everyone I know, but that style of music isn't always popular in the states.

I've been told by a few mates that it may actually be a mixman or fruity loops cut instead of a full song but they haven't been able to provide the evidence otherwise.

I will continue to hunt this song down... if it is a song.

We're getting closer:
Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want to Erol's Glam Racket Mix is close but not exactly there

Franz Ferdinand - Do You Want To? (Max Tundra Remix) That wasnt it.

I think this site has a version that is really close, or even. The song that they used.
