Watching it now, well worth watching, hope it does get ripped so more can see it.

This kind of thing makes me absolutely proud to be English and I feel total admiration and gratitude to the people involved, they are absolutely amazing.

The stuff they pulled off so that we could live as we do now!

I totally agree, great programme, really well made. I wish there were more documentaries like this. There are so many amazing stories of bravery from this time in history that should be told in this way.

Incredible story, of which, I'm ashamed to admit, I knew very little of. Clarkson does these documentaries very well and hope he does many more.

The programme covered the heroism of those on Campbeltown and the commandos but not the captains and crews of the ML torpedo boats. Their heroism was reflected in many medals, conspicuously for Tom Boyd the captain of ML160, but only the wooden construction got a mention. This was presumably because they are all dead and could not contribute to the programme.

Yeah it was a good program. I think there is a film, not a very good one I think it was made in the 50's/early 60's.

I thought everyone knew about this story, it's one of my favourites. I didn't realise they were trying to escape to Spain when it all went tits up.
Those vets they had on were great, my friends and I are organising a big trip down to Normandy this year to watch the ceremonies and meet some of these guys.

I wish i'd seen clarkson first documentary about his father-in-law, my mate saw it and apparently this bloke was taking out tanks with a mortar he was firing from under his arm!!!!

I really can't get enough of World War 2, of course it wasn't a good thing, but it happened and I can't change it.

It changed the world completely and I am totally fascinated by all aspects of it.

To sit here earlier and see those veterans talking about their experiences and thinking, they actually did that whole thing and are still alive right now, absolutely amazing, they are true legends.

Second that. Want rip.

WW2 is quite interesting, even though the Cold War interests me quite a lot more these days.

this was really very very good

i never even knew about that raid, but now i do, and those old men still alive today who took part are mega hero's. such an insane plan to drive a couple of ships right through the front door. even the german soldiers who eventually captured many of them were impressed
