Sorry mate. It seems like there was a torrent about 5 weeks ago but not anymore, they disappear so quickly. I'll keep an eye out for it if it resurfaces.
Thanks for trying and I will appreciate it if you do keep an eye out for it. images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

topgearanimations is not a bbc run site, it's a fan site of screen grabs/animated gifs and video clips.

But as we well know the bbc ain't too happy about that sort of thing.

So technically, the BBC should have sent them an e-mail saying "stop using video clips of our TV show, that's just not right"

And anyway, I've just had a look on the website and TGG is well within her right to use them. No where on the site does this bloke state that his images/video clips are not to be linked directly from it. If he doesn't want people using his bandwidth OR using his images at all, then he needs to post a disclaimer.

Simple as that.

Don't worry TGG, as I see it, you've done nothing wrong due to lack of this disclaimer.

Giraffe balls. I think when you see anything that's been watermarked, it's obviously not for use elsewhere. It puts people off doing the hard work in the first place if people are simply going to thieve it.

That's exactly right Watto, although the bbc would need to have been made aware of the infringements that are occuring on topgearanimations site before sending any communication which would likely be a cease and desist notice. Some sites do slip through the net (no pun intended) but I know the bbc does check for sites like that and obviously episode downloads.

I've not seen a disclaimer on topgearanimations site either, maybe she should consider putting one up there to avoid her bandwidth being blatted.

How can someone lecture me on copyright, when they have stolen those images from the BBC? If anyone has copyright on those images it's the BBC. They may have made the gifs themself, but they are taken from a BBC transmission or DVD and that is a copyright infringement of the BBC.

I have PM'd the owner and told them I'm not going to use thier gifs anymore. And that should be the end of the matter.

Fair enough to curb my use on grounds of bandwith, etc and as a courtesy to ask first. Perhaps I should have. But then, did they ask the BBC before they made the gifs? I think not.

The BBC clearly state this in themselfs:

"when licence-fee payers currently receive programmes from the BBC, they are only allowed to view/listen to the programme in real time or to record it for viewing/listening at a more convenient time. Other copying/distribution of BBC programmes without permission is not permitted"

That's the thing, there is NO watermark on anything over there!!

I see it a bit like copywriting something. Let's say I design a time machine but don't patent/copywrite it. Someone else steals my design but patents and copywrites it. Tough shit, I wasn't smart enough.

Just like if there's no disclaimer or watermark, I couldn't care less, it's their own fault.

That is copying and distribution of clips or entire programmes, screen grabs or photos taken from transmissions are not copying entire programmes or clips, whilst frowned upon unless they are being used to excess I dont think it would attract too much attention. That said any infringement of BBC content is just that - an infringement of copyright. Downloads however are a completely different ball game as they are distribution of a sort.

and if that's not enough to make you sleep I don't know what is!

I don't understand why for the énième time you've quoted me, when other members have posted information that would have been more appropriate to quote, including the webmistress of TGA.

I'm not the one with animated gifs, and the post that I made is referring to my own site and NOT TGA. On my own site I make sure I watermark each and every photo that I have taken myself, and I also offer to watermark photographs that have been donated by fans and media companies that I have shared my work with. I do this to deter people like you from passing my images off as their own without my permission.

ANYWAY.

i watched all 4 of the Should -I Worry thingy shows.

really cool documentary (?) series i must say. shame the americans don't make documentary shows as cool as that.

before i watched though...i was sitting there "what the hell is a jab???" apparently they're immunization shots.

i got MMR shots in like the 80s. i'm not autistic. or turned out wrong . or something or other.

and it really doesn't seem like Richard drinks THAT much...and it's amazing that drinking with food sorta absorbs the alcohol content (that's damn cool really).

exercise...explains why my sister can swim for like forever and be fine....but is technically in "worse shape" than i am...

damn good series that.

Drinking with certain foods doesn't "absorb" the alcohol, but rather slows the intoxication process, allowing you to drink more at a time.

Best way to go to a drinking competition? Eat lots of fatty foods with cholesterol (man, that's not an easy word!) such as butter and cheese, throw in some breads, and stay very hydrated throughout the day.
