| James May is one of the very few celebrities I would want to sit down and have a drink with. Unlike so many other presenters he seems much more than just a personality for the cameras. He seems, well, like a normal person.

| Lexus? Oh shi- | James just oozes coolness in my opinion, because being cool is all about not taking yourself too seriously and not trying too hard either. I would love to 'go down his local' for a pint. ![]() None of that dark beer he's into though, I'll have a Budweiser. |

| Lexus? Oh shi- | I was being sarcastic. I don't like dark beer, but I don't like Bud either. Maybe I'll just have a shandy. Think he'd mind that? ![]() |

| Finally watched this, and it was even better than ep1. The bionic eye was amazing, I knew they could do these sorts of things, but to see it in detail was very interesting. all of the robots on the show were cool, but the bit at the ending with the virtual James May was pretty creepy. That and the "face" of the realistic humanoid robot. really looking forward to the next ep. I just hope it's not a "we have to save energy because are planet is dying" showcase, but I don't suspect such a thing from Mr May burning the hell out of a hotdog using nothing more the suns rays is cool though

| great series, I also liked the 20th century. There are some really cool gadgets/machines/robots out there, that nobody would know about if it wasn't for James ![]()

| Asimo was impressive. As James mentioned, it's quite easy to imagine one of those getting you a beer in the future. We're not gonna have to move at all It'll be brilliant! | |

Rep Power: 12 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Just watched the third and last episode. I read that this was the original idea that James had for the programme, "energy" being the one subject that interested him most. And I think it showed. Quite a relief to see there are so many different different sort of techniques being developed to tap into all those sorts of energy. Good of him to point out that there is nothing "alternative" about it. Although he will probably be accused by Jezza and Richard of being a tree-hugger from now on. ![]()

| I found this one less totally interesting - because we've all seen it before - the solar and most of the tidal stuff. Although that turbine-blade-propeller thing I hadn't seen before. All of the stuff isn't successful because no-body can be bothered yet - its all say and no do (apart from these guys) I actually laughed about the space-lift. Who would seriously think that could work. You would have to be going so fast (quick calculations show you would have to be going at 1500km/h (932mph in good money) for a full 24 hours before reaching your destination). I was wondering why NASA only were giving $2m out, but now I know why. I would say the ONLY viable thing there was the final one (probably why it was last). Just one of those mirrors = 2-3 gallons of petrol a day? Replace those pathetic solar things like in Spain with those - you don't need to build a huge tower - and simply use the new fuel like we do the current stuff - burn it for electricity, then use the new technology that pumps the CO2 underground to dispose of it. What we need here is some collaboration. But seriously, if that stuff works, then the Americans need to stop fucking up the economy and invest in it. And one final note: that melting metal was really surreal. Amazing.

Now if we can not have the Severn Barrier because of the poor little wader birds what about several hundred of those tower thingies from Norther Ireland in the Severn FTMFW I say. |

The place where he was filming is very close to where I live. Damn I wish I knew when he was here so I could meet him.

Viper isn't the person who actually rips the episodes, he offers many many services but flying to the UK every week would be a bit much. He gets the file than puts it on a public tracker for everybody. Episode 3 will be on a public tracker once it's released by one of the groups. Sometimes it's fast (top gear is usually out around 1/2 hour after) but sometimes it takes days, it's all up to the release groups to get it out fast, not Viper. He isn't sitting at his comp laughing because he is the only one with the rip ![]() | ||
