James May's Toy Stories Airfix: Spitfire TV Story Board

People were crashing cars long before Top Gear existed. James May
Loved the show! I've always been interested in scale modelling, allthough I really don't like any of the Airfix-stuff I've tried. I prefer Tamiya if I want simplicity and quality, and Dragon for when I want complexity and accuracy. I really only do military models, though. Not cars, trains or airplanes.

We were discussing about scripts before now we know there were at least storyboards...
Thanks Skylock![]()

Usually have at least an outline script first, otherwise what can you storyboard, just an idea in your head
113What's with the picture on that listing???
Meh, probably wouldn't ship outside UK and would want a ton of money for the "inconveniece" if they would.
Just watched the first episode and really enjoyed it. I built models when i was younger, so did my dad (although while he built many of the same stuff that James made, i usually was making Star Trek & Star Wars models) and the episode really did capture that spirit of putting something together and making it your own. James as usuall was his superb self and was able to see that this was something from his own childhood.
Really looking forward to the next episode and seeing how the flower people react to James' display. His reaction to Joanna Lumley's peck on the cheek had me on the floor laughing. I'll definately be watching the next episode and really looking forward to seeing the Lego house just because of the amount of logistics and time involved in it.
In case anyone's interested, from The Sunday Times:

Is this going to air weekly? I haven't seen Ep. 2 torrent posted anywhere.
Cool, thx. I guess I was thinking Sundays like TG is.
I sw this, despite bad weather churning up the TV signal (honestly, this digital crap is worse than old TV!).
I have loads of (un-finished) models all over the place, the few I've finished include a tri-plane (I even painted it!) and bi-plane and WW2 German truck (This came out a bit wonky and has now been declared a 'damaged in action' model!
Even when you get a model wrong it can just be used as something else, I want to do a huge diorama, but no time, money or space.![]()
Next time he does a series like this, I hope he does origami...or is that too non-British for James?
Next week will be on Meccano. Someone filmed James crossing the bridge he (had) made and he posted loads of nice pics of the proceedings as well. You can download the 12 minute film from here: http://www.nzmeccano.com/gallery2/main.php/v/26918
Looks like fun!![]()
Have just watched the Plasticine ep, enjoyed it more than last week's but that could be because I didn't have two people yakking to me/in the background!
Or because it was more like my/our Lego experience - lots of people of varying abilities but all enjoying themselves and rallying to help the lovely Mr May
The esteemed FG member Wyvern was visible in the art student segment wearing a funky headscarf - look out for her if you've not already watched it! Sorry, Wyvern, had to acknowledge your 15 seconds of fame![]()
What a great second epsiode. It had a different feel to it than last week's. It was very very funny. Some of those judges are not going to be too pleased tonight.
And Jane McAdam Freud turns out to be a total nutcase, but I love her already.![]()
8All of the airfix episode has recently turned up on "facetube" for those interested.
Still no sign of the torrent on TheBox. I hope it shows up sometime soon.
