Default Tom Ford and TG Magazine??

I bought the first Australian Edition of Top Gear Magazine on the weekend and saw that there were a couple of articles written by Tom Ford. Is this the same Tom Ford from Fifth Gear?

Yes, he's been writing for Top Gear for some time.

Actually he's a contributing editor and he used to be the "Deputy Editor". He's thoroughly involved in the publication, or at least used to be.

As a footnote I've always found it to be a real shame that he doesn't seem able to translate that great writing he does for the mag into quality pieces for Fifth Gear. Maybe the director reins him in or something. I'd like to see him at his full potential under Wilman's tutellage should (God forbid) either Hammond or May leave TG as I reckon he could be quite a good foil for Clarkson.

how so, i like Tom Ford's road test reviews in Fifth Gear, they're quite 'common everyman' level and not on that obnoxious snobby 'racing driver' perspective that is shared by Tom, Vicki and Jason. Personally Tom and Jonny are my favorite presenters on the show, mainly because they're not so full of themselves, and i think Tom's writing style in TG Mag is similar.

I agree although Tom's reviews haven't been so great in really recent seasons. Maybe due to silly things the producers want him to do? I'm not sure. But he's still the best on Fifth Gear.

I could really see Tom on Top Gear sometime down the line. He would fit right in to the lunacy and childishness that goes on there!

I agree completely. All of his TG (magazine) stuff is fantastic, but some of his Fifth Gear videos are really, really lame

I suspect his on tv presentation style has to be a certain way, otherwise if he's too technical and doesn't speak from a 'regular guy's' perspective it'll overlap with the race car drivers reviews.

That being said, i like his witty, joe-average presentation style, its a refreshing change from the overly technical, nerdy style of the others.

Have to admit I'm not a fan of TG magazine, but I do find myself enjoying Tom's articles more than the others. However I've never been sure about him on TV. Some people just don't make the switch and I think he's one of them..............on saying that, he's the best presenter on 5th Gear, which says more about the other hosts than it does about Tom.
